1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/5,

he wants us to find the sum of the first 6 even positive intigers

the first 30 even positive intigers

In mathematics, a square number, sometimes also called a perfect square, is an integer that can be written as the square of some other integer. (In other words, a number whose square root is an integer.) So for example, 9 is a square number since it can be written as 3 × 3. If rational numbers are included, then the ratio of two square integers is also a square (e.g. 4/9 = 2/3 × 2/3).
A positive integer that has no perfect square divisors except 1 is called square-free.

The first 51 squares (sequence A000290 in OEIS) are: 02 = 0
12 = 1
22 = 4
32 = 9
42 = 16
52 = 25
62 = 36
72 = 49
82 = 64
92 = 81
102 = 100
112 = 121
122 = 144
132 = 169
142 = 196
152 = 225
162 = 256
172 = 289
182 = 324
192 = 361
202 = 400
212 = 441
222 = 484
232 = 529
242 = 576
252 = 625
262 = 676
272 = 729
282 = 784
292 = 841
302 = 900
312 = 961
322 = 1024
332 = 1089
342 = 1156
352 = 1225
362 = 1296
372 = 1369
382 = 1444
392 = 1521
402 = 1600
412 = 1681
422 = 1764
432 = 1849
442 = 1936
452 = 2025
462 = 2116
472 = 2209
482 = 2304
492 = 2401
502 = 2500

The formula for these three puzzles is:

x = ( (a + b) / 2 ) * n where n is the number of integers, a is the first integer, and b is the last integer.

2 + 4 + 6 + 8 + 10 + 12 = 42

( (2 + 12) / 2 ) * 6 = ( 14 / 2 ) * 6 = 7 * 6 = 42

you do the rest

Wow...I don't remember that in school...must've been sleeping...just ask your teacher to explain it to you better tomorrow...tell him/her you got home, forgot how to do it, your parents didn't know, so you couldn't do it. He can't get mad at you for not understanding it. (he will tell you that you should have stayed after class if you weren't sure, but you just tell him that you thought you had it down pat, but it left your brain by the time you got home)

To therockr1:

YOU should take some English lessons, if you want to be that picky! Rosh was closer to spelling it right than you were! Integers is NOT spelled intergers, it is spelled INTEGERS. (look it up!) There's no R before the G. (Hilarious though that you were so snotty about it and couldn't even spell it right yourself..ha ha)....

I can't believe the guy above was flaming you for misspelling
"INTEGER" and he then misspelled it himself!

The fractions in your question have nothing to do with your problem.

A positive integer is a number great than zero.
a Posistive EVEN integer is a number that can be divided
by 2 with nothing left over.

2,4,6,8,10,12,14 ect ect ect...
You figure out the rest.

It's more about thinking for yourself and using your own brain than it is about getting the right answer.
