Lets see...you could where gauchoes and a polo short, or a tank and shrug
or a nice pair of shorts and an aeropostale baby doll t-shirt
wear jewelery too:)
wear clothes that are still summerish
I totally agree about not wearing skirts...I don't either

I would go for something more casual for the first day, and then on the 2nd day, wear something that really stands out and is super cute!
People will be more likely to notice you on the 2nd day, because everyone is worried about what they are wearing on the 1st day.

dont get too fancy , because people will expect that from you the whole school year, maybe cute jeans low waist, and a pretty top with some heels ,thats hot!
