You can take all the hot showers you want...you dont want to take scalding hot baths or showers or get into a hot tub or jacuzzi that is more than I think it's 102 degrees...you don't want to raise your body temperature too much (that's why no crazy hot baths or showers)...but a normal warm shower is fine.
Honey is also fine...but never never never give it to babies or small children, honey can give people botchilism and it can kill babies. I'm not sure if it's ok to have while breast feeding..but I wouldn't take the chance.
I don't know factually about the higher lower basketball watermelon thing...all I can tell you about that is...I'm having a boy and he's right under my boobs and my belly is very very round...so there could be some truth to the whole high basket ball thing...lol.
For future information, I strongly advise you get a few baby books...and also sign up with www.babyzone.com . that website has TONS of info.
Good books to get are "What to Expect When you're Expecting" and also "Your Pregnancy Week By Week"
Also, make sure you take a birthing class...it sounds dumb and alot of people don't bother...but really it taught us soooo much..and they automatically answer all the horrible and disgustign questions you always wanted the answers to..but were too afraid to ask.

1. You can't shower or bath in real warm, hot water : TRUE. You should not take hot baths becuase it raises the body temperature too high. Water that is too hot will not only dry out your pregnant skin, it might also harm your baby, increasing her risk of birth defects, or even the risk of miscarriage. Ideally, water that is around 100 degrees is ideally suited for the pregnant body. You should also avoid hot tubs and steam rooms.
2. Honey is bad to eat while pregnant: FALSE. Only babies under the age of one should not eat honey because they may not abe able to breakdown some of the bacteria often found in honey... but pregant women can eat it just fine.
3. A higher belly means the baby is a boy. A lower belly means girl. Shaped like a basketball is boy shaped like a watermelon is a girl. : FALSE. Just pesky old wives tales. Sorry!

All that stuff about telling the gender of the baby is false...old wives' tales....you can have honey but the baby can't until after its first birthday....the thing about taking a hot shower or bath is that you may think it is hot but because you are pregnant (and it's August), you are hotter than normal, so when the water gets too hot you'll be too hot and will probably get out or turn it down anyways....I had the same question and my doctor told me that....I agree with getting the "What to Expect When Expecting"....it has just about all the information about being pregnant and postpartum....it costs a lot if you buy it from a bookstore, but only costs about $15 from a maternity store(i.e. Motherhood Materninty, babies'r;us may have it at a cheaper price, too). P.S. I had a boy, and boy was I a watermelon!

There are so many old wives tales out there. however I would not recommend takeing a shower or bath in really hot water and it could make you dizzy and you wouldnt want to get dizzy and fall. They say don't eat a lot of honey and peanut butter while pregnant beacuase it could run the risk of the baby becoming allergic to it, however I did take a liking to tea and honey while i was pregnant and so far my child is not allergic (same goes with peanut butter). As with the shape of your belly clueing you in to what sex the baby is...who knows for sure...for some people it happens to work out, for some it doesnt. I know with my son, my belly was all sorts of shapes beacuse he was a mover and a shaker in the womb and never seemed to stay put.
There are so many things that have been pased on for generations and generations between women about pregnanc. Its hard to rule out which ones are real and which ones are bogus. If you wonder about certain ones dont hesitate to ask your doc...especially ones like the honey.

Well I've never heard not to eat honey while pregnant but definitly don't give a baby under one honey. It can cause an allergy and they will get very sick. And with the hot water thing...well the hotter the water the easier your skin will dry out and you will be very itchy and uncomfortable because your skin is already stretching, They also don't want the baby to get overheated. If you get hot they get hot. So too hot of water isn't good. As for the rest...both of mine have been low basketballs and both were girls.

when are you due? I am right at 18 weeks. Anyways as far as your questions....
You can not use hot tubs. Anything like that where your entire body goes in and you cause your temp to raise is not good. A bath tub ( as we know) the water cools the longer we sit in it. I will post a link below.
It's perfectly safe for a pregnant woman to eat honey, though it should not be fed to children under age 1 because it may contain the deadly bacterium Chlostridium botulinum
The wives tale about how you are carrying, I always heard low and all in front is a boy. High and carrying all over like in the thighs and butt, its a girl.

It's true about getting in water that is too hot. It's because your unborn baby is not able to regulate his/her temperature the way you can so the baby can overheat and this may harm the baby. The size, shape and position of your belly means nothing about the sex of your baby. Honey is okay for you to eat, but it won't be okay for your baby to eat once he/she is born. Honey often contains a form of botulism, baby immune systems are not developed enough to fight off this and they can get sick and even die from eating honey. I've heard they shouldn't eat honey until they are 2. One thing you should not eat while you are pregnant is feta cheese or any unpasteurized cheese. These do have a form of bacteria than can harm your unborn baby. If you have any other concerns definitely buy that book the other person mentioned, What to Expect When You are Expecting, it's great!

I am not sure about honey as more and more new things and ideas are coming out all the time. A nice warm bath/shower is ok I would not have a really hot bath/shower I don't know if its bad or not tho. the old wife's tale of carrying in the front is a girl and carrying in the back is a girl. I have 5 kids one girl and 4 boys all but 1 of the boys I carried in the back the girl I was way out the front I am not sure about the high or low thing tho somebody may. Good luck

its true about the water because it raises your body temp. but thats the only way I like it is really warm, so I just took lots of short baths and showers. Both my kids turned out fine. and about the belly my girl I carried really high and like a basketball and with my boy I carred really low and round. So that just depends on your body. And I don't know about the honey part sorry

It is true that you can't spend to much time in hot water. When you start to feel hot is when you need to get out. It is unhealthy for the baby to be exposed to high temperatures. They don't have mechanisms to cool down like sweating and drinking cool water. Also honey can be bad because it can sometimes contain a virus known as botchalism (not sure of the spelling) that can make you very sick for a couple of days posing a high risk of dehydration and in turn premature labor. As far as how you carry the baby. That is an old wives tale. There are hundreds. It is fun to guess but often times they are wrong
