I live in a small town and within a period of a few weeks, three people have been arrested for producing child porn and molesting children. Two of the peope arrested and charged with this crime was a police officer and his wife. The trial was yesterday for him and his wife. The other man worked for the city of our town and after he was charged, he was found dead a few days later. He had committed suicide. Do you think the internet makes it easier for child predators to lure children in? Do you think the internet makes child molestation seem more appealing to child molesters? They make me sick. When I said I live in a small town, I mean the population of the city isn't over a couple thousand. You think you know people, but you really have no idea.

I don't think the flood gates have necessarily opened up, but maybe the internet is a "water hole" to these animals, where they gather and congregate. Does the internet make it easier for them? Probably.

In the history of technology, the telephone had the same effect on early 20th Century people as the internet has today. People were very concerned in the early 1900's, about the quality of people who called them on the telephone. Some of these concerns were justified. Some were not. Sexual predators existed then - as now.

As for my personal opinion about these perverts?

I think child molestors - and other sexual predators as well - should be put to death. We shouldn't have to live in a society where these people are allowed to live, at taxpayer expense - and then released - simply to repeat their crimes again.

Just put them to death and be done with it.

They are not fit to live with the rest of us.

This is a sensationalized issue. Although I consider child molestation dispicable and horrendous, I refuse to be caught up in the "Lifetime" Network type atmosphere of overzealous social service employees. These people have gone berzerk in arresting fathers for sending pictures to grandparents in email of the kids taking a bath. Something that was always done with innocense and meant nothing in relation to molestation is a common everyday "sensational" crime. Then we have the "statistics" ???? Every 5th child is sexually solicited online ???? Ask a 13 year old this question in the right way and a sexy comment by a 15 year old boy fits "your" questionairre criteria for MOLESTATION. Common sense does NOT enter into social services at any level -EVER. Watch out for these fanatical NUTS. They are as bad as terrorists as they raid innocent families. Their statistical numbers mean that IN YOUR BLOCK, If you have 6 houses on each side of the street, YOU HAVE 3 CHILD MOLESTORS. Does your common sense agree with this. Then NEVER EVER let your kids outside EVEN if they are with you. Sensationalism is crying wolf to the point that eventually children will be in danger. Overzealous social services employees must be held accountable instead of "exempt from prosecution due to public SERVICE ???? position". What A Crock.

Yes they are out there and more so now than ever. The internet makes it alot easier for these freaks to lure kids but you cant just blame the net, you have to blame society as well and especially parents. We expose young kids to television at an early age, they watch video clips of girls wearing almost nothing, its all accepted nowadys, look at that little beauty pageant queen? parents let 6year old girls dress and act like 18 year olds, its pathetic! Mothers let their young daughters wear makeup and dress provocatively, they let their kids roam the streets till late, let them listen to foul and obscene music the list is endless, so basically what I am getting at is that if you dangle candy in front of a baby it will want it??? I know they are sick and should be shot and dragged round town by the back of a car but we should act and be more responsible for how our little girls and boys are brought up! I was out today and saw girls hanging round a shop and they couldnt have been more than 11 but I tell you they looked, dressed and acted like they were 17, and even seemed to enjoy the attention of men, so what does that say? They are encouraging these sicko's, I saw an ad on tv the other week selling "Thongs" "G" Strings depends where ur from, for little girls, what the hell is that about? We have to get tougher on these pedeofiles and crims but also on our youth and on our advertisers! But somehow I think we have left it all to late. Peace.

That is very sick, and when I hear something like that it makes my heart break for those poor little children.

I think EVERYTHING in today's world adds to the interest and desires of predators, and even the so called normal people.
Looking at T.V, Movies, Magazines, and video games, and listening to the music of today all sets a mood for sex, violence and drugs.
Sex and sexuality is posted everywhere and is pushed on even the youngest of children. Look at the Disney movies, even these movies made for the very young bring sex and sexuality into the films. The sad things is, until people stop supporting these type of movies, t.v show, magazines and so forth it will only continue to increase in nature. The more sex sells the more it will pushed down out throats.....This all brings about more thoughts, desires and availability for these predators to come to life.

.
What is happening
( THANK GOD or whatever POWERS THAT BE in favor of children)
is called AWARENESS.

We are not longer pointing the finger at the victim and telling these children that trusting someone that took advantage of their natural "urges" and youthful confusion is "all their own fault, trashy little brat." NEVER MORE!
The VICTIM is NOT at fault !!!

I'm so happy. Also, the laws are stronger and the time is longer.
Yes, the internet is bringing the nasty scum out of the woodwork, but it is also being used as a tool to DRAW them out and catch them.
MANY of the seemingly innocent pleas from seemingly innocents are really adult detective undercover to catch the vermin that prey on youth.

I have deep sympathy for the absolute sickeness that these perverts suffer, and believe that, yes they should do time, hard time, IN A MENTAL FACILITY, with all the other insane people that can't control their imaginations.

It IS IMAGINATION that tells these pervs that their victims WANT to be touched and molested.
They take their innocence and desire to be loved, manipulate that, and turn it into a sexual molestation, rape, and sometimes murder.

Are they ALL capable of escalating to murder? I don't know. I only know that they do not exercise any control over their own fantasies, and desires.
Who ever said that every time a person gets sexually arroused that they have to ACT on that stimulation???
duh !!!

It all makes me sick, but I'm GLAD, HAPPY AND FULL OF JOY that these pervs are being caught. I want to do a jig every time they catch one. If that means I have to listen to it on the news daily, that will only make me more glad. OK, sickened, but glad nonetheless.

Mom's: Teach your children to push away the hand of anyone that touches them, or squeezes them sexually, no matter what their excuse, and no matter who they are, even one's they love as a relative, or "good" neighbor. Teach your children how to say "NO".

Thank you law officers for all you time and effort in catching these pervs.

yep on all accounts....but what ya gonna do? *shrug* you don't know someone is a child molester until they molest a child. i mean yeah it's sick, but there's just not much you can do about it...especially on the Internet where ppl have access to other countries that have the strict laws that we do. neway, you could probably thank Michael Jackson for all this child molestation stuff....molester think because he wasn't convicted they won't be either. What they don't understand is Michael has a whole hella lot more money than any of these joe shomo's out there and his lawyers are top notch.

but what ya gonna do? *shrug*

I know. Its almost frustrating trying to figure out what it is that goes through their minds that make them want to look at children in that way. Is there some drug that you take? I just cant fathom getting a rise out of child porn. Its baffeling. I do believe we should ressurect the stocks. Lock them in those for two days and let the public throw stuff at them. Just something before prison to let them know just how f**ked up in the head they are

There are troubled and disturbed people everywhere. The Internet certainly makes it more possible and probably more like it's easy to do. It is hard raising children now days....you don't want to teach them to be fearful of everyone they meet but you do want to instill caution and awareness of what can happen. It's a different world than when I was a kid.

Our kids are much more sexual than we were, thanks to the anonymity of the internet and the social uses of sex for advertising and everything else. First they are just excited at talking about "dirty" things with who they believe are other kids, but it often leads to actual meetings, and some of those kids turn out to be adults, even cops getting paid to prey on kids.

I also think we make too much of it. We have become a society obsessed with sex and obsessed with the idea of anyone having sex. Sick!

No this is something sadly that is nothing new. However on the bright side the police have gained new employees who actually know how to use computers and can back track these scum of the earth and find them and arrest them.
