We did you start? How often do you write? How personal do you get? Do you keep it secret?

I dont keep one; i used to but got so paranoid about family members finding it, so i decided to stop. i also realised i rationalised things in my head so much there was no point in giving myself a double job! I kept one when i was 12 and again at 18/19/20, and when i read the second one, it makes me cringe, but it also feels good to know i documented exciting moments, so i can revisit them by reading the diary. i wrote whenever something exciting developed, and thus usually meant i would have to give details of days gone by that may have lead up to the event, but u can write everyday if u feel like.sometimes its good to write really personal things so u can sort your mind out, but if someone reads it, it can get quite embarrassing, lol. its best to keep a diary secret; if u broadcast to everyone that u keep one, they'll either laugh or they might go looking for it out of curiosity, especially mothers, lol. or family might feel offended that you don't trust them enough to confide in them (which isn't why people keep diaries, by the way). if you're a guy, your friends might laugh too. keeping a diary also helps you write better and broadens your imagination/vocabulary, and communicating (verbally and in written form) becomes easier too. Hope this is helpful to you! Good luck!

Yes. When I was nine. I used to write everyday, but since getting married, I don't have the time to write as much. There is so much personal stuff in my diaries that I have to keep it a secret from certain people.

My favorite thing about my old journals is the fact that when I was in college I used to interview my friends and find out all kinds of odd information about them and write it all in my journals/diaries. It is really fun to go back and see how much we (my friends and I) have all changed.

I've kept a diary since I was about 8 years old. I love to write in it. It helps me to clear my head and complain about things that I don't want to burden others with. It also helps me to keep memories fresh in my mind. If I write them down soon after they happen, then when I go back and read that entry I can picture what it was that happened. I get very personal in my diary and I write in it every single day. My family knows that I keep a diary but they never know quite where it will be. Most times I keep it with me :)

Yes I have kept a dairy since 1970, most of you probably weren't even born yet! I still write in it now and then but not like I use to every day. I love to look back and read it, I always said my life would be a novel someday, when I am gone who knows!! So keep a diary everyone, you'll love looking back.

Its more beneficial accessible to position in writing your emotions that you do not choose all of us else to make certain about fairly than being as disillusioned in actual existence.yet another rationalization for protecting a diary is that that's exciting to look lower back and word how a lot you've grown as someone or your issues that there changed into no favor to difficulty about.

I have been keeping a diary for about 20 years in one form or another. I now blog on Yahoo, it is much easier for me to do it this way as I have RSI from working and I get very sore wrists just writing for a short time. It is very therapeutic to let it out on paper or screen.

No I don't. But I do write books and they can be very personal. All from memory, but very detailed. Is that still considered a diary?

i have been keeping hand-written journals since i was really young. the stuff in there is usually just everything i need to get out of my head, significant or not. sometimes it just helps knowing that you can rant and ***** and dream and write every thought you have out somewhere, and know that you wont be criticised or be offered any opinions. i also have an elljay that i randomly write little blurbs in so i can let my friends know about how im feeling and whats going on with me, for those that i dont see often and those that i talk to everyday. of course, serious stuff is rarely printed there.

hey, sometimes its just nice to be able to talk about yourself and your own feelings and be selfish without having to worry about anyone else for just a little while.

As a genealogy buff it is wonderful to find the written word of deceased family members.
