Incredible scenery, just the right temperature....did I mention incredible scenery????
The charming Tlaquepaque Art Shopping Center.... don't miss it, even if you are not into Art, the Mexican Village Layout is unique.
Sedona has diverse cultures and interests, it's an artist's sanctuary and a tourist's dream.
Sedona, centrally located and close to the Grand Canyon, also offers premier galleries and shops, upscale Dining, Golf and Tennis.
Also, don't miss Chapel area with the ascetic Chapel of the Holy Cross.
The fiery-hued rock formations you'll find in this area include the famous Bell Rock, with its energy vortex, the wonderful Courthouse Butte and adjacent to the Chapel of the Holy Cross, the stately Two Nuns formation...... and much more ..... and that's why Sedona is so special.

It's a beautiful area situated at the mouth of Oak Creek Canyon & surrounded by huge red sanstone formations.
It is also reputed to be the site of several "vortexes", which as I understand, are spiritual energy centers. Whatever! For this reason, Sedona has become a New Age mecca in recent years.
It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

There are vortex's located in Sedona. But in all reality it is a completely unique and beautiful place. It is a great day trip or weekend from Phoenix, you can camp and there are a variety of hikes in the area. The red rocks are breath taking. I highly recommend visiting and you will definitely come back!

The cosmic vortices are pagan/spiritual crap conjured up by people who can't seem to accept that the sheer beauty of the area (alone) is what makes it special. Frankly, the nutcases and crystal-freaks running around and preaching (and selling) their newage religions are one of the areas detractions. That and most things in Sedona are very expensive (hotels, shopping, etc)...it's definitely a tourist trap, although a very pretty one.

I think mainly for the unique scenery. The large red rocks and some natural falls that are there. Things you will not see anywhere else. There is a place called slippery rock park where it's a long flat waterfall that you can ride like a water tube and cliff dive into the water. It's a great place.

I agree with what "flika" said, it does touch your soul! Also, there is a lot of country to see near Sedona, like Oak Creek Canyon, and Jerome, Flagstaff is only 35-40 minutes North, and of course, the Grand Canyon another 90 minutes North of Flagstaff!
The Northern area of Arizona is incredible, a lot to see in nature, take a lot of film for your camera, or batteries and memory cards for your digital camera, you won't regret it :)

It's very beautiful and serene. Lot's of local very old history, primarily American Indian. Alot of beautiful art and old original structures. But it is the land in general and the scenic views that touches your soul. You can actually "feel" your in a very special place, and it has been a special place for a very long time.
