Call your loved ones as often as you need. Try to keep your mind off what you miss by making new friends or indulging in your hobbies. Go for a run, a bike ride. Sit your butt at a bar and start talking to the bartender or another bar-goer. Watch a movie, go for a drive. Maybe, if you don't live so far from home, you can take weekend and go back or maybe your loved ones can go visit you - wherever you are. It will get easier as time goes by - just hang in there.

Go hang out with your friends or do something to take your mind off of certain things. I get homesick, too, sometimes, but I get over it in a minute. :p

go out and explore your new environment and don't come back to your boardinghouse or any other place you're living in until it's time for you to go to sleep. checking out new things would help distract you from your homesickness :-)

Don't stay alone in your room. Go out and introduce yourself to people. Tell them you're new in the area and need someone to talk to. You'll be having fun before you know it.
