Okay, so I'm seriously considering piercing my bottom lip twice (a snakebite). The problem is, I'm 14, and my parents have already said no a million times. I'm thinking about doing it anyway, without their permission, and then taking it out during the day when they see me, and just putting it in at night so the holes don't seal up. I have a friend who does piercings for a living, so I could get it done anytime I want. I'm an ideal daughter really. I've never done anything wrong in the past. I get straight As, my parents love me, I'm not a messed up kid or anything like that. I just really, really want to do this.....any advice for me? If you were a parent, and you found out your child had done this, what would you do?

I've waited like a year. They won't change their minds.

Is it worth being grounded? Yes, I think so. About the infection part, and taking it out everyday, I guess I could stay at a friend's house or something for a week away from my parents....?

ok, well. don't do it. think about it. instead of you asking us if we were a parent, ask yourself first. "how would my parents feel?" or "if i were my parents and they were me, how would i feel?" i'm sure you would be VERY disappointed if your kids did that. your parents have raised you well, i can see that about you. tell them that whenever you are18 that you are mature enough to make your own choices, sometimes. if you still want to do it and your parents still say no, wait until you move out. they cant tell you what todo forever, but that still doesnt mean you have to be disrespectful. think about it. : )

As the parent of a 17 yr old girl, I would be ROYALLY PISSED if she did that to herself. No matter what you say, people judge you by your presentation of yourself and when you peirce your lip you are sending the message that you like to do things that defy social norms. What do you plan on doing with those holes in your lip when you are....25...30...60??? If you are standing in front of a potential employer for an important job...all things equal, and the other person does NOT have lip piercings.....who do you think makes a better impression??? I am not against piercings, my daughter had her navel done 2 years ago...I'm ok with it as long as she is tasteful. Don't do it. If you still want to do it when you are 18, that will be your decision and your parents cant stop you. You run the risk of having your parents not trust you if you go through with it.....

there's no way you can get away with this..you HAVE to leave it in for the first 2 wks or so..you can't just get it done and take it out the very next day..plus there may be risk of infections if you do that..but..if this is something you really want then get it done..after it's done then your parents won;t be able to say anything..but is it worth being grounded over? if so then go for it

Well let's see. I don't think its a good idea to get out a piercing that you are planning on taking out everyday to hide because that's a no no. It's a fact that you aren't supposed to take out piercings while they are healing because it can cause way too many infections. Before you worry about what you parents will say, you need to worry about that.

Taking it out that same night is not gonna be that easy. I had my tongue pierced when I was younger, and it swollen for the first couple of days. Not to mention you run the risk of getting an infection when you keep putting your hands on the piercing.

My daughter would be grounded forever, because she lied to me and did behind my back. I would still love her with all my heart, but the trust relationship would be ruined. Please think twice before you disobey your parents about something as serious as putting holes in your body. Trust me, I am sure they have many good reasons for feeling the way they do about this subject.

you are still a child, and must obey your parents. tell ya what....why dont you think about it this way. wait for a few months, and see if you still want to do it as bad as you want to do it now. perhaps them telling you know, drives you to want it more. so, if you cool it for a few months, perhaps, everyone might change their minds.

Why not wait until you're older? Seriously, your lip will still be there.
