Happiness is a situation of mind that an individual enjoys at a particular time. It need not be permanent. The most important asset to develop happiness is the willingness to live within the means in all respect.

Iteligence can help happiness but doesn't always work proportionately. If an individual decides to use his inteligence for happiness, then the situation is different. I think the primary utility of inteligence is achieving happiness.

The rest all depends on the use of inteligence by the individual.

No matter how happy you are that does'nt make you intelligent.

I think you should of switched it around so it asked this "Is intelligence dirececty or indirectly proportional to happiness?"

If you are intelligent enough to know what happiness is based upon then of course it is directly based on the intelligent level of a person.
Every one has there own kind of happiness.
An intelligent person should realize this is life.
If enlightened enough you should be happy with what you have.
There should be no concern on what you don't have. Happiness can be based on who is feeling it.
If you are vaguely smart then intelligence still can effect your happiness.
If you are smart enough to make the right decision then that it should intern lead you to happiness.
If you are dumb enough to make the wrong decision obviously this would lead you to a state of sadness.
Intelligence does have to mean a geek or a dork.
That's what most people think of when the think of an intelligent person.
The conclusion is;
Only if you ask your question in the reverse manner. Most of the time it is subsequently direct.

P.s
I would like to also state that fat people, and dumb people. Can never be happy with life.
If you are fat then it feels like people are judgeing you just by looking.
That's not going to make any one happy no matter how much they eat.
A dumb person is called dumb for a reason.
Do you think a dumb person likes being dumb.
I bet a dumb person is always afraid to say the wrong, then again look look at all the blonde chicks.:)

Neither- happiness is a seperate talent, a seperate discipline.

It seems as if the more intelligent you get, the more problems you can identify- but even for the less intelligent, it is possible to suffer- and suffering without knowing why can be intense, possibly more intense than when it's possible to work out why you're in pain.

Whether one is intelligent or not, what is necessary is the ability to apply what one knows in a way that is harmonious to one's surroundings. I think you'd call that 'wisdom'. Intelligence and wisdom together, what a powerful combination! Intelligence alone, of whatever calibre, that may be more apt to lead to unhappiness, but not always, it depends on one's circumstances.
There may be an argument to say that simply honing the intelligence, gathering more and more facts and capabilities, without knowing how to use them, will lead more surely to suffering. In response to that, I would argue that storing facts and learning bits of skills, but not the whole of them, is neither intelligent or wise.

Even then though, I still think happiness is something to be learned. Wise men can be unhappy some of the time too, it's just my guess that they will be better able to process the bad feeling and move on.

No happiness is directly related to contentment or achievement.

In your life you are bound to have met on occassions people who have a happy disposition. In other words they may be poor and not so well off as there nearest neighbour. But they have peace, family harmony, contentment and what some would call happiness.

For others happiness is a concept of status that is derived from reaching a lifetime objective, goal post, or achievement. Once reached than it may take a while to formulate another as life enhancing as the first.

Not all intelligent folks are to be considered as thoughtful. As far as i've observed, thoughtfulness leads one to melancholia or depression in varying degrees inevitably. Being socially conscious and sensitive towards others in your surrounding, which is intelligent, increases one's sorrow.

On the other hand, unintelligent people can also possess these noble attributes , though without an effective solution to the problem or a clear thought process and hence suffer the same distress or worse.
So, no it isn't directly or inderictly propotional to intelligence.

In fact i think happiness is a choice we make, intelligence or the lack thereof is not a determining factor.

Strong connection...

A dump person can be happier because he will not be completely aware of the conditions and he can easily lie to himself to imagine that life can't be better than this.

On the contrary, intelligent person is always has an idea about a better life and can't neglect the conditions. So,he may be less happy that dumps.

But this is not a rule as : smart guys must be sad and dump guys must live happy...
Nooo.

Indirect at best, but most likely no connection. Happiness is being content with what you have and inteligence is your ability to reason and problem solve.

The more intelligent you are, the more unhappiness. Think of the stress of finishing an important project and the frustration of not using your intelligence to its full potential.

Now take the less intelligent. They might not succeed in accumulating fast wealth, but they will have less stress and frustration.

Is intelligence proportionate to financial wealt..... that should be the question.

According to the Judeo-Christian Bible, in Job it is proportional to intelligence. I believe this is true. We are expected to be more responsible thus more serious with intelligence. Fat, dumb, and happy is not just an old wive's tale. People who enjoy their food and luxuries and don't worry about tomorrow while being kind and considerate to others are usually the happiest.

I am quiet convinced that my friends with high IQ's or who just seem brighter over-think things and are more prone to depression and maudlin behaviour. They often feel frustrated that they are surrounded by idiots feel the world is therefore a bad place and were more prone to suicidal thoughts in their teens.
However I am unsure if people with lower IQ's are really happier, they seem happy and saying does claim that;- 'ignorance is bliss'
So I'll say there may be a link!
