What is the reason for blushing?

Why do we do it? I know it happens when we are embarasses or when nervous and when we a being shy. Just don't know why.

When you are embarrashed or nervous, your heartrate increases which leads to vasodialtion (your blood vessels become bigger) and the increased blood flow appears red
