I ride my bike to school everyday and I always take the route with the least students. I have to think what others will think of me before I say each sentence. Is there a name for this problem?? Cure?? Any suggestions??

It's called Social Anxiety Disorder, and there are treatments for it. You can read more at http://www.webmd.com/hw/mental_health/hw177325.asp.

Bear in mind, however, that nearly all 16-year-olds are unbearably self-conscious, and life WILL get easier as you get a couple years older, I promise!

You can overcome it with work. It is important that you do overcome it or through out life you will find yourself being a follower instead of a leader. In the work force you will find you are the one doing all the work while someone else gets all the credit. Unfortunately the only way to change is to throw yourself to the lions and stop taking the path with the least people. It is wise to think before you speak, but not for the reasons you are doing it. Maybe you are one of the unfortunates ones that was born into a family that receiving praise is hard to come by, but criticisms flows freely.

You're sixteen, and developing. Maybe a little oversensitive but that's not bad. Matter of fact, it's to be expected. So called mature adults are all too often callow, insensitive and the like.

Take it a minute at a time. Fire me an e- mail anytime you want to. Just check my grid it's there. You'll be okay. In this world, if you don't have a problem .... hey, you really have got a problem!

Let me tell you about my problem, I have two heads, ssshhh, the other one's asleep, thinks he's an investment banker .... bla bla yada yada.

Excellent. The name for it is excellence; you actually think before you speak. That's phenomenal, spectacular, unique, commendable, repsectable, recommendable, uncommon, desirable, astonishing, keep up the good work. I think you are correct in your fear and I think you could live with it. Judge your words and theirs, not you and them. Judge the logic and do not assume the person is totally the logic you hear and think; this is over simplification, a reduction of the real person into a fiction of one abstract point. Certainly there are dangeous people, but there are good people. Know who is who.

Be yourself and see if they judge you. If they do (negatively) then they aren't worth the worry you feel. You should only care what those who actually care about you think (your parents, your close friends, your significant other, etc.) and only take to heart what they say if it's to help you. Other people shouldn't affect you. So do your own thing. What happens if they don't like you? It's common in just about everyone, especially kids/teens. Just be yourself.

This is easy.
Go to a mirror and look deep into your eyes(not at your eyes) and tell your Self this: I love you, and I honor who you are and what you are.

Do this right before you go to bed, and as soon as you wake up.
Within a few weeks your Life will be changed.

It happens when you're in your teens. You need some self confidence. Tell yourself that others should be concerned what you think not the other way round.
