Yes I think they are an invitation for political mischief. I bet the republican paty just wants to up date their rigged voting machines so that the elections can just go their way.

I think the govt should not be holding primaries.

If organization want to use some internal method to determine who to endorse as a candidate, that's up to them. Whether that's a vote of their members, or an open vote, or a poll, or whatever.

But private endorsements should remain private. And because political parties are not constitutional entities, the govt should stay out of such private activities.

Primaries are the most important elections. When it gets down to the parties two picks, it's to late for honest leaders.
