i'm not a prude by any means but i find the use of the F word (amongst others) offensive. Would u agree that it's just the low life, ignorant and uneducated amongst us that don't know the difference between right and wrong?

Yeah, I know what you mean it is offensive. I cannot as yet figure that one out, I think that it has become such a habit that they do not realize that they are using it. It's an awful word and it's annoying to hear.

No- I don't think it's the low life, ignorant and uneducated who "don't know the difference between right and wrong." A lot of people use the F word and others, who aren't stupid lowlifes but just get into the habit. Personally, I hear it all the time & it's just become a habit of saying it (one that I want to break). Cursing is inappropriate for just about any situation and I try to avoid it now. On the other hand, I have kind of mixed feelings about whether cursing's really that bad. I never mind it when other people do it. It's just a word, for heaven's sake. Not going to hurt anybody. It's just a way to express emotion, just another word for "bummer" or "darn." (or quite a few other things, which I won't go into) It's easy to say and I bet some day it'll be a regularly used no longer looked down upon word. And that doesn't bother me.

No. I would not agree that just low lifes, ignorant and uneducated people use the F word. Some very intelligent people use explatives when they are frustrated. Others use them to be trendy or fit into a cultural mindset; such as the one evolving on Yahoo answers. It is offensive and vulgar, but it does not necessarily reflect upon the intelligence level of the user. Most of us know the difference between right and wrong, but as the apostle Paul once said, according to the bible. to paraphrase, "That which I would do, I don't. That which I would not do, I do." It is the nature of our flesh. We make choices. Some good. Some not so good. Some very bad. Some thoughtless. I just read questions to get to the heart of the matter. You might be less bothered if you did the same.

I think it's just a habit, and when you do not tame your tongue, it catches on really fast, and you will find yourself saying it all the time. Eventually people just lose sight of what they're saying, and it becomes like any other word you say everyday. And I'll agree, it is offensive, but I think most people are just giving up trying not to say it.

I hate to say it, but it's not just low lifes anymore. It has become a staple of the English language. I hear people in their 60's and preteens saying it. Go to 6 Flags and it is all you hear on the lines.

I dunno sometimes I just get on an F- word binge....but I'll agree that using it too much is kind of a sign of youth and not very classy. There are a lot of teenagers in my apartment complex and I hear it from them like every other word. Oh well f*** it.
Oh and it's not an acronym. It comes from the German word fokken- which means 'to strike or hit'.

I was in the military and used to get so fed up with guys who couldn't string a sentence together without f ing it up at least 4 times. Mind you, if an officer walked by they sure cleaned it up quick, same as if the Padre started talking to them. So it can be cleaned up if they want to.

No, I have a ******* Master's Degree & I use the F word all the time. Out of habit, I guess. It does get obnoxious, though, eh?

Right or wrong? I won't say it's wrong, just obnoxious.
