Just wondering what other Bristolians think of the new bin scheme?

Weve got the black wheelie bin, which still gets chock-full, the green garden waste bin, the food bin, paper/glass etc recycling box and a non-existent bin for cardboard.

Ive found the black wheelie bin is still getting a full as I dont have any plastic recycling within walking distance (I dont drive) and its now collected less often.
The food bin is stinky, and my cat has worked out how to flip the handle to open it.
My green bin gets myseriously topped up overnight by unknown persons.
And as for leaving cardboard out with no bin, well weve just got cardboard blown all over our street!

I think the council meant well, but having 4 different trucks coming out to collect rubbish is polluting the environment even more.

How is everyone else getting on?

I'm on the edge of town so I fall under South Gloucestershire and luckily avoid the new system, but my in-laws have recently had something similar introduced in Devon.

The problem is, recycling obviously has to be done as much as we possibly can, but to do that we either have to sort it ourselves which requires some kind of bin system, or pay more in our council tax to have one bin for recycleable waste that is sorted at the tip. Personally I'd happily choose the latter, but I think I'm in the minority, and so multi-bins it is. Still, you'd at least think they could provide some cat proof, airtight bins!

if like Manchester you get 4 wheelie bins, your garden gets like a car park..also they are a burgle-rs best friend, handy to get through a window and handy to take your goods away in, and nobody takes any notice...
