My name is KENES and the presidents last name is BUSH, if you put them together and say it real fast ....well you get the idea.
Anyways I have been trying to get in touch with george bush for some time now, since I woke up, Also others I have been trying to get in touch with.
Because of the situation I often wonder whether or not I am on the same planet as some of the people I am trying to get in touch with. Or I wonder if there is that "truman show" effect that has been going on......

TAXATION is not really the answer any more than any other crop... I mean I really do not know if I agree with the excess tax on TOBACCO... but GET THIS what if WE (the people of "cannabis culture") agreed to have cannabis taxed to a certain extent and then the money would be able to go to SCHOOLS or something... not to teach the "war on drugs" but the "smarts on chemicals".... I mean what you grow on your own or are given would not be taxed just the stuff at like bars and stuff you know "roller coasters" ~ what do they call that "entertainment tax".... i mean I could grow my own stone or if I go out maybe ONCE A MONTH or something and go to a cafe, I do not mind paying a little more 10cents to the dollar or something... to know that the money is going straight to schools well that would be GREAT

Because it makes you stupid number one, and it leads to more harmful drug use.

Probably tax reasons. Also local law enforcement makes a lot of money from it.
It is SO easy to grow that the government would have a hard time regulating it effectively. Most people don't care if it is legal, but most people at the same time don't smoke so they don't press the issue.
Ever since the 30s it has always been taboo, and anyone who has read any credible health study shows that it is not addictive, perfectly safe when ingested/safer than smoking cigarettes (who smokes 20 marijuana cigs a day?), and that THC cannot kill you.
It affects your motor skills, but so does alcohol and cold medicine. With a proper regulatory sceme, it could be extremely profitable to legalize it.
In a fantasy world, if all the tobacco fields in the South were transformed into Cannabis fields, we would have a lot less health problems.

The original reason laws were drafted prohibiting the farming of cannabis (in 1937?) is because the cotton farmers in the US were a powerful lobby, and were consequently able to get the government to pass those laws. Hemp is (was) a much cheaper crop and a viable alternative to cotton, but could not be farmed using the same equipment the cotton farmers had all invested in!

I think it's against the law because lawyers decided this,
not doctors or scientists.
Why lawyers have more clout than scientists, is beyond me.
Another reason is because the people who make these laws
are just too lazy to figure out how to package & sell the stuff.
They could be making millions, but why bother, when you
tax the crap out of people & have the ability to vote
yourself a raise.

Because Dupont didn't want products previously made from hemp competing against his plastic products. He had enough political clout to get legislation passed making cannabis, including the growing of hemp, illegal in the US.

I think cannabis is illegal because they make so much money off of us getting busted. Honestly even my mother agrees that they should legalize it and tax it as they do cigarettes. Kills a lot less people than Alcholol (Cant spell right now)....

please get yourself a copy of the "emperor wears no clothes"
by jack herer
it will enlighten you in deatail about your question.
it should be required reading for ANY cannabis culture member!
to answer your question is this: dupont wanted to promote "nylon" which happened to have been developed in German labs but with WW one repairations the German patents were unenforcable, so dupont took it and finished development but sadlly "hemp" was still superior to nylon in many respects so dupont , joined the ban hemp bandwagon.
the cotton industry also disliked hemp for obvious reasons ( hemp superior), the paper industry (wood pulp process by "Du pont") , the alcohol industry (competion from hemp flowers "bud")
i could write for hours!!!
please get the book and study it!!

Tax.
Same reason alcohol is legal but moonshine isn't. Uncle Sam doesn't get his cut.
There's also something to be said about regulation of ingredients in moonshine and if anything harmful is being added etc.
But I believe the bottom line is $$$

It is against the law because they have not figured out how to tax it. Once they get that sorted out it will be available like beer or other alcohol.

Because those who know don't know how to do anything about it, and those who don't are so ignorant that they would kill before they followed any real logic.
