I have noticed that often books/their endings are either mockingly depressing or unrealistically perfect. I think it's hard to balance the bitter and the sweet. So which do you prefer, a book that is too sweet and clone-like, or a book that is too aware of evil and negative? This should be interesting.

Cynical, but I prefer a book that is fresh enough to surprise me. It's too easy to figure out the story in most fiction books these days.

I like books that have a different take on life. Something mystical or spellbinding. I don't like romances, but don't mind a romance in the novel. I can read books about evil and find that exciting as long as it is a novel. The ending is the ending is the ending and I haven't given it much attention. I will now that you have mentioned it.

Neither. I like a book to engage my thinking, but for that the author has to be deeply balanced in soul for me to really connect. But given that balance is the hardest thing for me, when I err, it's usually on the side of melancholy. I had to give up reading Thomas Hardy for that reason.

I like a book that is aware of the evil and not afraid to talk about it. The feel good, touchy books just don't float my boat. They all seem so impossible...

I'd rather be overpowered by an abundance of truth, rather then be overpowered by a lack of it.

Cynicism all the way.
