The smell of freshly cut grass (especially when it is made stronger by a brief shower of rain) reminds me of a Saturday afternoon of the summer of '75. I was walking up a hilly road by a park and it was the first time in my life that I noticed this smell. It couldn't have been the first time I walked past a freshly cut lawn but before that day, I didn't notice the smell.
The fragrance of L'air du Temps (Nina Ricci) reminds me of 1976, when I was earning some money by home tutoring. My student, who was a lot older than I, gave me a bottle of this perfume for Christmas and it was the first time I received something like this as a present. It made me feel really grown-up. I wore it to Christmas parties that year and now everytime I smell it, all the memories came back!
Diorissimo reminds me of a friend called Peony. She introduced this perfume to me. It seemed very sophisticated to a poor student like me.

White ginger flowers remind me summer is ending. Mountain lilies remind me of happiness. Bonfire smoke reminds me of England in November. Brut aftershave reminds me of a horrible guy I used to go out with. Freshly baked bread, still warm in the oven, reminds me of my childhood. Overcooked cabbage reminds me of school. Lots and lots more, could write a book about it. Does vodka have a smell? If so, don't let on to the police!

Linseed oil reminds me of my dad, he would smell of it when he came home from work.
Here's a strange one. When my dad built our house in the early 70's he painted the hall with paint he had left over from other rooms because funds were getting tight, it was a awful green colour, but I can still remember the smell. The only way I can explain it is it smelled the same as pear's taste... Strange but true!

Fabric softener reminds me of this guy that I have a thing with, when we get together it's "fire in the Hole" just a phrase. But actually the scent association thing is valid, especially if your mind recorded at a heightened awareness.
Baby powder reminds me of when my son was an infant, he was so sweet and chubby, now he's solid and heavy. But I still get the same scent from him like I said heightened awareness.

Smell of chalk piece reminds me of my first class teacher. After wiping off the black board with a duster sometimes she used to pat my cheeks fondly. The smell of chalk powder on her hand registered her in my memory for ever.
