It has little to do with the act of "having sex" ...it has more to do with orgasms...they make your uterus contract...much like they do during labor.
You can have all the sex you want and if it's lousy sex where you're fakin it...nothings going to happen...lol
If it's good sex and you're orgasming all over the place...it could put you into labor...
Good luck and happy humping

There is a chemical in semen that softens the cervix, but it has not actually been proven to bring on labor. That goes along with all the other "Old Wives Tales" like spicy foods, walking, certain oils, etc. The baby will come when it is ready to come. Some people use the above methods and when they finally go into labor they think that the last thing they tried brought on labor, but it is just the baby ready to come out.

Sex doesnt make you go in labor, but when you have an orgasm it releases oxytocin which is a chemical your body releases during labor and when the sperm hits the cervix your body releases prostaglandins which can bring on contractions and sometimes helps with labor but it will help efface your cervix cause thats what prostaglandins do. If your body is ready to go in labor it will. These things help but wont put you in labor unless your body was ready anyway.

The semen contains prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are similar to hormones in that they act as chemical messengers. Prostaglandins can actually stimulate contractions when deposited at the cervix.
All 3 times my labor was induced in the hospital, my doctor coated my cervix with a prostaglandins gel.

If you're already close to going into labor, the contractions in your uterus from orgasm can cause you to go into full-blown labor. (Happened to me.) I've also heard that there is something in sperm that can bring on labor, but I don't know that there's really any truth behind that one.

Prostaglandins in semen help to ripen the cervix. (In the hospital, if they ripen your cervix they give you a gel made from pig semen!)
If the woman has an orgasm then there will be a release of oxytocin which can cause contractions.

The cervix contracts. Sperm helps "weaken" the membranes to induce labour.
