I work with at least 5 nurses who moved to the USA from the Philippines and they all seem to be pretty well off. Why are they coming here in droves and what is going on?
My dad was in a nursing home and about all of the nurses were from the Philippines.

Nothing agains Philippino's, My doctor who is also Philippino has taken care of me since I was 12 and I am 42 now.

I think it's because the first few who made it in the States told family & friends they were quite happy and successful there. I know a Filipino cloistered nun presently in Spain who wants to quit and go to the US to work. She is a nurse and worked as a nurse in her country before becoming a nun and going to Spain.

A nurse in the Philippines earns about six dollars a day.

Because it is one of the few jobs they can receive a certification in prior to arriving that will guaranty them a well paying job when they get to the USA.God bless them too, because we have such a shortage of nurse in this country right now.

we don't have enough nurses so we let them come here to work. be thankful he has a nurse at all.really serious problem we are having right now.good for them that they went to school and came here to better themselves. i hope they all become citizens and live hapily ever after!

they all migrated here in like the 1990s because they believe that they can make a lot of money here.

probably cuz their country sucks, and most foreign countris will tain them for free, usually leading to them going back to their country with a nice education etc.
