Why was the book forbidden? What caused it to be a bad book?

Reasons cited for banning the book include coarse language (soldiers in the book frequently curse), some sexually explicit content, and blase attitudes of the narrator toward horrific scenes of death and destruction.

In other words, the book is a fairly accurate depiction of many things.

But there are plenty of people out there who don't like soldiers to be depicted as anything but clean-cut, and don't want people to think that acts of war are anything but justified, and so on and so on.

Far from being a BAD book, "Slaughterhouse Five" is part of the CURRICULUM in some schools, despite being banned in others. Go read it! Vonnegut is a great writer!

The strong anti-war sentiments were very unpopular at the time it was published. Also, there are many Americans who didn't know about the bombing of Dresden and the truth about it embarrassed the government.

It's certainly not a bad book. Most books that are banned are good books--that's what makes them so "dangerous".

Basically because there are still many small minded people in this country who think they have the right to tell others what they can or can not read, watch or listen too. The sooner this breed of people die out, the happier and more informed the general public will be.

Anything new and somewhat radical gets banned somewhere. That is one of my favorite novels since Vonnegut is terriblly original.

They have probably banned each of his books someplace.
