You may have to ask at a garden center what would be the best way or contact your state agricultral office for help. There may be something you can put on the ground around the tree or a wrap you can place around the trunk. I have seen some stuff in little bags that you hang in the trees that is supposed to keep them away. You can check at www.carolwrightgifts.com or any similar mail order catalog/web site.

Get to the pecans before the squirrels do. Other than that, you may have to kill the squirrels.

If there are no adjacent limbs you can wrap aluminum flashing around the trunk. You can also place insulators on the trunk and wrap 2" X 4" welded wire around the trunk. You then hook this up to an electric fencer. This is shown at the following site: http://www.pecanworld.com/SQUIRREL.htm
