Do you have internet? As another suggested, you can talk over the internet using Skype or MSN messenger and the like, where you talk computer to computer. Talk Talk's International (think you have to have internet??) lets you talk free 24 hours x 7 days weekly for EU countries, America & Canada & UK landlines. However, they do ask you to sign up for 18 months with this International Option. They have other options that operate after 18.00 hours for the telephone. Best checking things out on the Talk Talk website., as it is an 0870 number and there is roughly a 10-20 minute wait, because it is so popular. Once you register, you don't pay them when ringing their 0870 numbers. Think you may be able to register via Carphone Warehouse outlets & get information from them also.

Also - there is the International Telephone cards you can buy. They really are cheap. I know you can dial the access code in via a landline telephone & call boxes. Think the charges may change if you do it via a mobile. If you do buy a telephone card - read the small print, there are hidden charges. Says, so many pence per minute, but then there can be an admin charge, a connection charge, etc. Ask for this detailed info at the shop you buy. If you in a student environment, ask other friends about the telephone cards.

I'm all day long on the phone with Germany...get Skype....download the software...pay for having an in/out number....if you don't wanna use the headset with web cam, buy a Skpye phone, using your USB port, or get a Skype wi-fi mobil phone...so you can walk around the house and don't have to sit by the computer....its a little pricey...wait for a sale...
Vonage VoIP has 5 european countries for free, but not Germany..

Like the other users stated, you can always talk via the internet, but if you still want to "talk" then i suggest you buy phone cards instead. They have minutes incorporated into the card, and you just follow the instructions in the back to get through.

Vonage has free international calling to some countries. Might be worth checking into. You also might look into international calling cards (they have cheaper intl. rates than regular calling cards).
Hope this helps!
