I believe that Americans have learned an incredible amount of wisdom in the last 5 years, but unfortunately, our government still has its head up a warm, smelly place... That's what worries me!

As a whole, no, I don't think we learned to protect ourselves any better than prior to 9-11 - it's because we're too politically correct and utterly afraid to offend someone.
As for the Tsunami, I think we learned that it's easier to clean up their mess than our own (Katrina).
Katrina - we learned nothing from it other than there is a definite separation between races and social status. How long did it take Chicago to rebuild after their fire? Something of that size has never happened so Katrina was/is a learning experience in how unprepared we are in regards to weather. They best start thinking about it seriously though, because the weather, it seems, is only getting worse.
Personally, I've learned alot.
9/11 - I learned to be more patriotic and I was proud to be an American (still am).
Tsunami - As selfish as it sounds, I'm glad I live in the midwest where I don't have to worry about some gigantic wall of water coming at me.
Katrina - I learned to not take too many things for granted. I don't anyway because of a near death experience that really taught me that there is happiness in stopping to smell the roses or admiring a sunset.
I'm constantly worried about something horrible happening to my loved ones. They're my life.

what's faulty with this international. What you and quite some your answerers are putting forward is in case you lose a loved one-a better half leaves you after years of marriage, you lose a job or domicile and so on, that you do not choose any compassion or situation confirmed to you. do not say that's not.. Thats in basic terms what you advise. even as a husband leaves his spouse after years of marriage-you females do not choose a acquaintances shoulder to cry on & help ease the discomfort. Your mom dies-you do not choose different loved ones or ideal acquaintances coming to positioned an arm round you and say "i'm the following in case you want me? you in basic terms favor to bash christians. What you're pertaining to the following ought to pertain to human beings mostly. the completed international. that's referred to as worrying for someone except your self. by using what you and quite some others say-you do not care about different peoples hurts. You all that sense this kind are so chilly hearted. provide me my acquaintances anyday to lean on even as the going receives difficult. All of you who agreed with this moron. make sensible once you lose a loved one-you enable each body on your community recognize-the way you sense about exhibiting compassion and situation. That way -no one will problem you. that's human beings such as you that makes the international a crappy position to stay.

No they haven't.
Just look at New Orleans...yay we will rebuild...until another one un-expectedly wipes us out..again...
I like Americans, but not all of them. Most of them seem too arrogant for my liking.
Does it depress me...no not really.

Doesn't depress me, doesn't make me more grateful. I'm already depressed enough, and apathetic...
