KIRBY!!! Its expensive but you will not have to vacuum as often, it is great for families that have allergies, plus has a carpet shampoo kit that comes with it (not sure if that was extra)~trust me I know I have 4 kids, 2 which have allergies and asthma and a himalayan cat!!! I make 32.00 payments a month but for me, a single mom, its well worth it!!!

It is expensive, but Miele is the best. Buy the S 5980 Model. Whilst the initial outlay is high - it will also last 3 times longer & give you less trouble.

I am madly in love with my Dyson Full Kit. It is fabulous, in stylish colors, and incredible at getting in all the nooks and crannys and making the air around you cleaner. there is a reusable hepa filter and a trigger that lets the dirt out so no nasty bags!

Eureka Mighty Mite. inexpensive and lots of
attachments.
If you have the bucks a Miele is good too.
