True or false.
I heard 2 things today. I am at 39 weeks and starting to get contractions about 10 min apart. I heard that if you do yard work or move furniture stuff like that. The labor will progress.

Then I heard that you should just take it easy and not move around a lot so the labor will progress.

Does anyone know which way it goes?
Yes I know be patient but I am beyond that!! I am tired of being Pregnant! lol

That baby will come when its good and ready, so go about you everyday routine until your pains are 5 to 10 minutes apart or your water breaks. It will be over soon. Congrats on your little one.

If you are in labor then staying active will help things move along. Walking is the best. Moving furniture I would NOT do. Light yard work is fine. Moving is the key but you don't want to get too tired.

A wonderful book called "Active Birth" talks about how wonderful it is to stay moving during early labor. AND being upright. It helps the baby's head push on the cervix to get it dilated.

Im 9 mo pregnant and a friend told me her story that when she started labor she started cleaning her house like crazy cause she knew company would be coming over and after she got to the hospital she realized she made a big mistake cleaning because she was too exhausted. Its true that walking will make you contract longer but that doesn't mean it will keep you in labor. The baby will come when it wants to come so you could do all the walking you want and if your body isnt ready it wont bring the baby any faster. I recommend just doing what feels right for you at the time. You dont want to be too exhausted but for myself I have noticed that if my braxton hicks contractions are hurting it feels better to walk than to just sit there and do nothing while feeling them.

All I know is at 42 weeks, I went for a short walk down a steep hill and went into labor about 2 hours later. 2 days before my scheduled induction. I wouldn't lift anything but moving around a bit can't hurt you.

Doing light phyisical activity can help labor progress. Be careful not to do anything phiysically that could harm yourself or put strain on the baby. I would suggest that you wait it out and don't rush it. Once your baby is here, those first few days will go by so fast. Maybe instead of rushing the baby to come out, you could think about how and what you want with your baby those first few days/weeks to make them the most meaningful. Good Luck

Don't do anything that you could strain yourself..especially lifting heavy objects. If you are truly in labor, you are going to need to keep all the energy you can for the next hours..
Try walking..it helps to progress the labor.

I would call my OBGYN if I was in your shoes.. Your contractions may begin to get closer soon.
If you are looking for something to speed up the process.. I will list a few things that DID NOT work for me :)
Eating a lot of peanuts, letting my husband drive, Castor oil, A lot of walking, Doing the deed, House work, or stress.

don't move heavy stuff, or do anything hard, it can pull something, my mom just lifted up something heavy(a cast iron skillet) and pulled my breathing cord lose, and i almost lost my life, so take it easy, but get a lot of walking in, that will help with the labor, that's what my doctor said, and it worked!

My doctor told me the more i do walk, ride a bike, and swim will help labor progress... There is also a tea you can drink you might ask about (your doctor) that will make labor progress.

Just have sex, that'll bring it on! I would think activity rather than inactivity will bring labor on. And I felt the same way at the end of my pregnancies, just wanted my body back! Good luck and best of health to you and your little one!
