Well, given the fact you seem to think of every man in the South being the mindset of Forrest Gump I doubt you will really ever understand it.
The truth, its simple economy. Re- enactments bring in tourists to small towns that really don't have much to offer aside from the fact a battle took place there. The South has a lot of re-enactments of different eras just because the area is rich with history. People flock in to see the battles, to stay in old houses and to tour the area. Believe it or not.
When it comes down to it all of the U.S. digs up these things. I mean, we lost in Nam but that hasn't stopped the rush of the motion pictures that re-enact battles and that time period.
P.S. masterjack needs to learn more about history. I would love to hear about how the federal forces civilized the Native Americans. How they stayed around and made sure the former slaves were safe in thier new freedom, why freedom was not given to them at the beginning of the war, and how they were treated when they fought for the Union.
Kansas was considered really a Northern state, and most of all if you wear the flag you look like you support the cause.

Did you know the civil war was an invasion of a neighboring country rather than a "civil war" The Confederate States of America was legally a separate country. It was not about slavery. Someday they might get their independence back, just like Poland, Ukraine, and even the US from England. There is a really good book called "The South Was Right" by James Ronald Kennedy & Walter Donald Kennedy. The book describes this very well. They re-enact them in pride and honor of thier heritage, since the NAACP won't let them keep their honor in any other way. NAACP = Perfecting Racism the Legal Way.

I would be careful about who you're calling stupid retards.... you best keep your yankee behind north of the mason dixon line, or else you might find a long line of 'stupid retards' who would like to kick your skinny little @ss!!
We re-enact the Civil War because we're proud of our heritage, even though we were wrong from an ethical standpoint, our ancestors had the courage of their convictions and stood up to the federal government when they thought they were over-stepping their bounds. Nobody today has that kind of gumption anymore, and lets not forget, the CSA were outnumbered 10 to 1 by the North and still gave them quite a tussle for the better part of five years.

It's called Preserving our History. They re-enact our History so people today can see what it was like back then. It's to Bad you can't get your face out of your flat screen tv and your PlayStation 2 or GameBoy to realize this. Sometime when your GameBoys Broke the Cable's out. Hell for you the power would probably have to be out. Go check out a re-enactment sometime. It'll make you LOVE your TV and Video games even more.

They like to site heritage and yes in my opinion it is very traitorous to continue to cling to a failed and misguided past.
And while some people pretend that the conflict wasn't about slavery they are simply either lying or don't know US history very well. Given the bloody fights in Kansas and Missouri prior to the official beginning of the Civil War in 1861.
The south prior to being civilized by federal force was a vile and treacherous place, populated by ignorant evil people. It was necessary for the federal government to bring those despicable people in line.
I wear the rebel flag to honor the Federal stomping of the traitorous south.

It has nothing to do with the fact that they lost. It is all about preserving their history. Be it right or wrong, the civil war is a huge part of Southern culture. Just as civil rights and every other war or injustice is a part of our culture.

Heritage. BTW, they didn't lose like stupid retards. I guess when you get to 8th grade and take a history class you might learn that. Until Grant took over they pretty much wiped the street with the Yankees. Grant was willing to throw away the lives of his men to win by attrition.

The South is a great believer, collectively, in the superiority of their lost cause. They believe that it was God's discipline so that they can rise to take power in a struggle and correct the errors of the Union/Federal Government.
