Do they feel some resent towards the U.S. because of it? Or do they feel it was justified because at the time Japan had aligned itself with Nazi Germany and it avoided a U.S. invasion?

Note: I'm talking about the people of Japan--not Japanese-Americans.

I think I might be more qualified to answer this question than anyone else here because both my parents are atomic bomb survivors.

Resentment towards the U.S.? Some.
Justified?: No.

It is worth noting, however, is that majority of the atomic bomb survivors do not resent the U.S. Non-Japanese may assume that these survivors would be chanting "Remember Hiroshima (or Nagasaki)!" every summer. Quite the contrary, they gather every summer to pray and ask nuclear powers to never allow any other country to suffer what they have suffered.

So the Japanese psyche is not "Remember," but "Never repeat."

Don't worry. no such feeling basically. Today Japan and US are in good relationship.

Don't you think if Japanese don't ask you anything about Pearl Harbor, the conversation never remind you about that era?.
Between Japanese and Chinese are same.
In person, they are good relationship. But once either person started that kind of topic about the era of before WW2, and their awareness of the history and the data are different. so, you know what will happen.

Japanese do not have the tendency to "pick up and repeat" only negative point in the history. They try to find the positive side and the possibility in the future.

YES, but they do not hold any resentment to the USA, except for some of the older Japanese. The reason that
they don't resent the USA,is because the USA build Japan back up, that is one reason you see so many japanese products over here in this country.

Good question. I lived there for 4 years. Most don't resent the US, but also would not wish to see it happen to anyone else.

I am a white american and I believe it was tragic, unlawful and unnecessary to drop such an unholy weapon on heavily populated cities of peaceful non-combatants. Japan had already intimated that they were going to surrender, they just wanted to do so on their terms. That wasn't good enough for Truman. Bombs away!

Fabulous question. I'm not sure...I'm sure they are very aware of it, though. The youth of the USA doesn't even know about it! I've been asked what Nagasaki is...Bizarre.
