Continue practicing.
Start booking yourself or have your parents help book you at local events.

Is there a carnavel/fair in town? More than likely they'll have acts, find out (usually this involves going to your city hall) book yourself to that event. Also for local games call and request to sing the national anthem.

Tell your friends about it, tell your family about it. Let the word spread. Develop your fan base.

Since you're 13 and I believe in most states, you have to be at least 14 to have a job legally.

Figure out an income - not something big like being an office assistant - you can do something small - babysit if you have to. Earn some money while keeping good grades and talk to your parents,See if they can help financing getting you into a studio. More than likely if you prove you're responsilble/passionate about what you do they'll at least TRY to help you.

If you have limited means, (fixed income or aren't the richest person in the world) get a video camera and a Karaokee machine and sing ACCAPELLA (accapella in case you don't know means without music - completely by yourself) while having someone record you.

(I say accapella because they want to hear YOUR VOICE not music going over or behind your voice). Send it to some record labels. Or upload it onto myspace.

To get a record labels address I recommend listening to your favorite bands/singers, look on their cd for the name of the label and if you type that into google I'm sure you can find the addresses online.

Anything else just ask and good luck. Also remember you may not get a deal right away it's something you definitely have to work hard for and remember not to take rejections personally.

Honestly, choral groups are the way to go. Ask your choral director how you can get vocal training lessons. Once you get a vocal teacher, he/she will be able to tell you what you need to do. Glad to hear you love singing so much! I've been in choral groups since I was 8 (I'm 26 now), and I really enjoy it. The most important part is to have fun! Good luck!

Start by opening your mouth, I reckon.

What kind of singer? That's a pretty broad statement you made.
