It was a version of the Mambo, and yes it was the same dance they did at the other club, just a little more relaxed at the end of the movie. "Nobody puts Baby in a corner." I love that movie!!

It was a twist on the mambo. Patrick Swayze is a very well versed dancer, and I believe he actually put in the twists with the help of his wife, whom by the way sings "She's Like the Wind" with him. :)

variation of the Mambo, they named it "dirty dancing," but it was a Mambo...Mambo has many variations, is a very versitile dance, and is hot when danced correctly. Modern version of Mambo is Salsa, but Mambo has the added quirk of dancing on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th beat with a hold on the down beat. Mambo is the fast version of Cha Cha....Salsa is NOT. Both are great dances, but Mambo is sexier because of the movement off the down beat. Good luck
