It is just terrible out there, I know. I've had a number of episodes of TERRIBLE health care, for both myself and members of my family, including my kids. It's pretty bad, but for some reason they don't like to publicize it. Probably too much money involved, the power of the AMA, etc.

Do what I did. Don't bother with the hospital complaints system - we all know what happens to that. Root about on the net and find all MP's who have any kind of responsibility for the NHS and send copies to all of them. Go to the ombudsman site and check out NHS complaints (and ignore the "You've got to go through the normal procedure first" thing). Just find any address that has anything to do with NHS management in your area and top brass anywhere with overall "Responsibility" - whatever that is nowadays. I sent out about 14 copies of my complaint about what happened to my son and there was such a stink at Scarborough Hospital! The kids playroom was closed, the theatre arrangements were changed for children so that the parents could be there when the child wakes up, all kinds of stuff went on. But I wouldn't allow any child of mine back there again regardless of the changes, not unless I had a bed next to my childs! As for public awareness - I cant imagine that the papers would print anything controversial, they're not that public spirited. Just tell everyone you know what happened and encourage anyone else with a complaint to speak out - that's the only way changes will be made. Too many people stay silent. Hope your child is OK now.

Call news channels and see if they have a spy team, write about it to local newspapers, find anyone that the same thing has happened to, write about on the internet, search for pateints of that surgeon/doctor, find someone who does or no longer works at the hospital that can vouge for you that it happens. Just start telling your story to everyone!
Contact your states department of health, get a good lawyer!

Vent your anger on the hospital's chief exec and he'll pass it to the clinical risk assessors through due process.
Or Take a Break or other scaremongering weekly.
What do you want from doing this?

Suggest you try your PM, or other local Potical reps, and local TV and Press.
Also I think it is mad the number of hours medical staff are expected to work, I wouldn't have a mechcanic 'fix' the brakes on my car if he'd worked the same hours as most medical / Junior staff work. - its just crazy.
