If they did that, the prisons would be empty and the inner circle of wealthy wouldn't be getting all those monsterous contracts. They'll never legalize it. Keeping the population in fear of it making monsters out of the users is too much to their advantage. Putting away druggies is a wildly successful, government, PR campaign and always has been. It leads to all those lucrative prison construction contracts. Sorry, but that's the true answer.

Thousands of lawyers and judges and prison guards depend on victimless crime laws to keep the prisons full of harmless people so they can have jobs! The Land Of The Free has freely decided to lock up harmless people who aren't bothering anybody else so now we have the biggest prison system in the history of the world, 2.5 million locked up--the equivalent of every man, woman, and child in Chicago! And the masses love it! Its what the people want. Of course having a prison based economy is what destroyed the Soviet Union but why care about lessons of history?

1.) Because it's not taxed, and our government doesn't make any money on it...nor is it regulated, so it can't be used for political bartering.

2.) Because apparently drunk-driving deaths are OK, but simply getting stoned and acting all stupid isn't. Alcohol addiction, blacking out, not remembering driving home last night, the person you ran over, or the chick's name you woke up with in the morning is RIGHTEOUS!!! Smoking a non-addictive bone that makes you feel real good, behave more sociably, and laugh your butt off is EVIL!!!!

3.) Because conservatives think their myopic, self-righteous, drunken, and ignorant opinions = reality. How could they possibly be wrong???? Hmmmm? They know EVERYTHING....and they are never ever....ever...ever...wrong.

4.) Because no major conglomerates, with multi-million dollar stockholders, and CEO's who could contribute LARGE amounts of CASHola to someone's election funds (and help sway Senatorial and Congressional votes) OWNS a marijuana distributorship.

5.) Because our government wants us to be slobbering, depressed, easy to brainwash drunks...not happy stoneheads practicing our freedom of speech and having long marches on Washington demonstrating against our politicians very UN-American actions as of late.

6.) Because this is AMERICA, dammit...and we don't inhale!

I don't think it will that much longer before they do. I remember I was one day in court (I'm a paralegal) and one of the people that appeared that day had gotten arrested and charged with posession. After going over the facts and charges etc. that judge tells the guy, " oh, and son, if you use it you should try to legalize it". I bet that judge did his share back in the day.

If you have a medical marijuana card you could legally smoke it in California. I have a few friends that got one by saying they suffer from migraines and $350 later they were smoking legally. They get some really good **** from the hashish bars.
