The first three cords I learned were E, A and D. I would suggestion playing those over and over, back and forth (mix them up) until you can change between them pretty fast. Then add in C, F and G. Play all them over and over until you can go between them all pretty fast, then learn all the Minor Chords. Get a chord book and learn the Major 7th Chords, etc. Playing good? Takes a long time, but with practice, practice, practice you could be the next Eddie Van Halen!!!

It took me a few weeks to get the basic idea; however, it took me a lot longer to really play well. How long it takes you depends on how much you practice and how much musical ability you have. When I started playing guitar I already played piano, so I had an understanding of music principles. When you learn to play better, watch out for the boys! Girls that play guitar are very popular with some guys.

I am a beginner. It took me one month to move to chords. I am practicing on chords now.
