It's from the sound card (the driver was removed accidentally or it was corrupted). You need to reinstall it! There are two options:
1. the sound card is onboard meaning it's build in the motherboard. This way just go to the motherboard producer's website and download the audio driver (that is if you don't have the installation cd that came with the motherboard)
2. the sound card is not included in the motherboard (either external or internal atached to it). You need to do the same thing (either use the cd that came with it or go to the website and download the latest driver).

Ok, find your Windows disk (The disk that came with your computer). If you have Windows XP, the disk will be white and blue and will say Drivers and Appliances or something of the like. After that, go into the disk menu and look for the audio driver you need (It should have a check mark next to it) and install it.

Problem solved!

Oh, and if you can't find the disk, then call up Windows or go to their website and order another one for free.

Good luck!

thats probably your sound card driver gone. if you have a CD from your computer that might restore it. another option is to go the microsoft updates website and look for the driver there by doing a custom update and then using the navigation options to go to hardware updates.

Your sound card might just be loose.

Try pushing it in farther into the mother board.

(Sound card is the chip with the speaker input/output)
(Motherboard is the big main chip in the computer)
