I had a laparoscopy done last Novermber to diagnose and treat my endometriosis.

The inital effects were nausea after waking up from the general anaesthetic, and generally feeling a bit weak and woozy. I didn't have much "gas" pain or pain in my stitches - nothing that a couple of co-codamol didn't sort out anyway!

I have to say though it was probably a week or two before I really felt like myself again!

I'd be interested to hear others' stories of laparoscopy, good or bad, to see how mine compares. It seemed to be a good thing I did have the lap, because 4 months later I managed to get pregnant for the first time in my lifer after trying unsuccessfully for many years! I wonder if the lap had something to do with that?

I had lap for hysterectomy and had the same problems you had. Although I did have "gas pains" and couldn't "go" for awhile. I am certain that your lap had everything to do with you getting pregnant. The procedure made you healthy enough to carry your little one so you were blessed! I had my lap 17 years ago and still have occassions of stretching pain in my navel. I am so happy you were able to get pregnant! Stay healthy and enjoy every minute of it! God Bless and Good Luck!

What wonderful story of you getting pregnant. My daughter has endometriosis and suffers terribly. She was unable to conceive and had many month of IVF before getting pregnant.

Sorry you asked about Laparoscopy well my daughter had a really bad time had it (three times). And swears she will never have another one even though she still under the Gyno Specialist and may need another one. So I think that everyone has different experiences from what I have heard.

Good luck and I hope a cure is found for this dreadful illness. Do you know it is only this year that it has been recognised as a notifiable illness and I suffered with it many years ago, so not much advancement has been made in finding a cure.

I've had 3 laparoscopy surgeries in the last 5 years. The first one was to remove a tumor from my right ovary and it wasn't too bad lots of nausea. I think some doctors fail to tell their patients that this is a "surgery" and not a "procedure".

The second laparoscopy was to remove another tumor from under my right ovary that the ultrasound could not detect. This one was really bad I was sore and nausea for about 4 weeks.

The third laparoscopy was to remove the right ovary and scar tissue I had this surgery in May. I experienced lots of pain and the nausea was really severe. I'm just starting to feel like myself again. I'm glad you were able to get pregnant, the laparoscopy probably helped along your pregnancy.

I had my gall bladder took out the surgeon decided to do a laparoscopy operation.
I was in pain after the operation and for 4 years after it. I got told the pain was all in my head.
I even got sent to see a psychiatrist and psychologist for psychological pain.
No one would believe me it had happened after that op.
I was still under the surgeon who did the op as I insisted that this pain I had was a result of the op.
The surgeon was involved in a disciplinary hearing and was suspended while he was off a new surgeon came to the hospital and operated on me and it wasn't all in my head I had an umbilical hernia.

I would rather get cut open than suffer through all that again.

I am glad you had a good experience, congratulations and good luck with the baby. :-)
