I used to flip myself out of the swings at the local park and one day i didn't get enough rotation so i ended up way short and i landed on my face. I had to have my jaw wired shut for 8 weeks. I have never went near the swings again.

It doesn't matter. Kids need playground equipment and physical activity should not be limited because of parents worrying about kids getting hurt.
Obesity is a far greater risk than playground equipment. For all the hours kids spend on the stuff there really aren't that many injuries.

It must have been when i was about 7 or 8. I was on a swing doing loops around the top bar when the chain holding the swing broke as i reached the highest point of the loop. I plummeted into the ground from about 6 meters. I landed on my feet but could barely walk for two or three days. I never tried it again!!

i was playing soccer on a field in a park with some classmates back in elementary school. someone had left some broken beer bottles lying around randomly, and when i went to slide tackle my opponent my knee went right over a piece. i needed 6 stitches.
another soccer injury from my youth may make it so that i never am able to have children. I was playing the sweeper position (the guy right in front of the goalie) when a forward from the other team kicked the ball into my nuts. the worst part is that he followed through with his foot.
needles to say i was not able to play for the rest of the game.

I would have to have swinging high on a swingset and hit the ground hurt with only a few bruises. It may not be the worst. Or spinning around in circles, getting dizzy, on those playground merry-go-rounds, and try to get off, by getting bruises and scrapes. Plus getting pieces of my hair caught in the chains of the swingset.

Granted this was back when playgrounds were on asphalt surfaces, BUT, I was on the monkey bars, reached the end and hand slipped off when I fell on the step up bar, hit my nuts then fell backward off it and hit my head on the pavement.
OUCH. Big bump on my head for a few days and a while agonizing in pain on the ground from the nut-shot.

Back in the bad old, pre safety regulations days, I slid down the arm of a swing set & rip my leg open on an exposed bolt. I still have a scar about 8" long and an inch across. This was many years ago.

Falling off the slide, hitting my mouth on the rail (thus chipping two teeth) and breaking my rib on the landing.
I miss playgrounds.

I was playing hopscotch and fell. I ended up with two pebbles in my knee which needed to be surgically removed and then had to get stitches. Don't much remember the pain though.
