These people that merely stand behind a camera all day, or a studio trying to make some insipid chart topping hit make millions of dollars a year while a fireman doesn’t make enough to live well on. They are called noble sometimes and have prestigious awards given to them for doing something so insignificant that it shouldn’t even be acknowledged as great. The problem is that we are the ones that place them in the limelight. We provide them with the money they make year after year. Of course if I were a star I would want to be paid for my work too, not that I would deserve it. However, I guess they suffer from the fame they receive also. The conditions are not always the most pleasant, some have to be hospitalized for exhaustion, and never have a moment’s privacy. But still, I think of other people, mothers that work crappy jobs with no respect that get injured and have to come home to an unclean house much worse. Of course in our unfair and misguided world my whined is pointless and contradictory to my own wants. However, I will continue to download movies and music without giving these talentless greedy one hit wonder artist my hard earned cash so they can buy a thousand dollar pair of underwear.

Kudos to you..I totally agree with you. I know my answer is going to be repetitive of what you and others above have said but I'll say it anyway. Actors, singers and athletes especially footballers are definitely overpaid. Sure, they work hard at what they are best at and they provide therest of the world with entertainment and for that, they deserve a good pay. But millions of dollars a year is too much of money. People of noble occupations such as teachers and doctors who have studied hard and spent a lot of money on their education should be earning more as they provide something priceless to the society. A teacher provides education which is the fundamentals of a society's progress and a doctor saves lifes, something which all the money in the world can't buy. Shouldn't these people be earning millions instead? However, as much as we debate over it, it's not possible to reverse the situation. People with noble jobs can nevertheless be proud of their jobs and enjoy the satisfaction their job brings them as everyone recognises the importance of their jobs. I don't think actors and soccer stars get to feel the true satisfaction that can only be obtained from a good deed. It is not what you do that matters, it's how much others benefit from what you do that is really important. And I was just thinking, maybe if a ruling was made such as that anyone who earns more than a certain amount a year MUST donate to charity, wouldn't that be wonderful?

I agree with you in totality. Musicians and actors are treated like they came up with the cure for cancer. They make millions while people who teach, and build this country. To get 20 million to make a movie is absurd. Society has always paid entertainers pretty good, but the 20th century has changed things. It is a shame when a teacher barely makes 40 thou a year and an actor makes millions , or a musician. That is the way of todays society. I say boycott them. I don't go to movies or buy music anymore. While it won't stop them from getting rich, it won't be at my expense. Heck, I am a truck driver and work my butt off with 80 to 90 hour weeks and I only make 58,000 a year. I just find other ways to enjoy life. God's nature is a better movie that no man can imitate. And pro athletes as well. Way overpaid.

A friend of mine pointed this out over ten years ago. As good as they are, why do the ball players and the actors an actresses (and as you say - the musicians) get paid so much when other more "important jobs" do not offer the same salary-?? My guess would be that the surgeons and the firefighters are not seen anywhere near as much, and are a lot less "visible" to the general public. Movies get seen by the millions of viewers, ball players play before thousands and are televised to the millions of their viewers. Musicians make recordings which often sell to the millions of their listeners. So - that is why I believe that their salaries depend on the sizes of their audiences, and not on the importance of their jobs, or on the condittions under which they perform these jobs, sorry to say!

Yeah I think they make too much money. I am sure that their schedules can be taxing at times, but I stand in front of 125 students 8 hours a day/5 days a week and no one offers me a multimillion dollar signing bonus. So, I have NO sympathy for the likes of people like Lindsey Lohan who have to be hospitalized for exhaustion!

WAY OVERPAID.......if actors, musicians, and athletes weren't so overpaid maybe we could enjoy going to these events without having to pay a fortune for admission. And yes, the other people who said it right, I agree with, there are people in this country who do much more important work for ALOT less money, THEY are the ones who should be recognized and compensated for their efforts. Why should they make so much money when there are people struggling just to survive on a daily basis........in my opinion there are too many spoiled babies in the entertainment industry that need to put most of their money to better uses than buying $500 pairs of jeans.

That may very well be, but the more people we have freeloading on the internet the more money everyone else who is trying to stay legal will have to pay. That's kid of unfair too.
All I can say is, DON'T GET CAUGHT! there are some hefty fines for stuff like that.
On the other hand, I agree completely about them being overpaid.

Absolutely, without a doubt. It is up to us as a society to change the huge imbalance of income that exists. I think we should all do our part to support more equality on all levels. While some people in the US barely get enough money to eat a decent meal, others make millions by simply making a public appearance.

It's a question of being fair.
A movie makes a LOT of money.
If the people are paying to see a "Bruce Willis" movie he should get paid fairly. Otherwise he's just being used by the studios who are making a LOT of money.
It's just like a sports star, the players should get paid as long as there is a lot of money being made.

Can you say "Free market economy"?
That's what determines it's. I don't care a hoot for any of them. But that's not the point I guess. They make that kind of money because that is what the people are willing to pay for . I will not blame them for that. If anybody I would blame the public.
