All of the above answers are great for increasing your stamina. There i no proven way of increasing your lung volume.

Bear in mind that your body only metabolises about 5% of the volume of air in the lungs (the rest being inert nitrogen, trace gases or unused oxygen).

So, exercise will help your body metabolise oxygen more efficiently (ie you breathe less for te same work rate), plus training will help you overcome the breating reflex.

i did this yoga type technique where you control the amount of seconds you breathe inwards then hold for the same amount then exhale for the same length. For example...inhale for 5 secs hold or 5 secs exhale for 5 secs. This will help you not only with lung capacity but also with breathing control

swimming actualy helps, try doing 5 breaths in 25 yards and then go down but dont take to much of a break

Do cardio every day, quit smoking, practice holding your breath for random periods every day.
