No, itching shouldn't be a side effect.

I don't know if you received antibiotics prior to or following the abortion, but if so, it's possible that you have a yeast infection caused by the antibiotics.

Never a bad idea to follow up with the doctor. Especially if you're having any sort of symptoms.

you could bleed to death if not properly done, infections, etc.... but probably one of the biggest is GUILT
