Fake nails never look as good as natural nails. They almost seem like a distraction.
Picture one of your favorite style icons through history (marylin monroe, audrey hepburn, jackie o, angelina jolie, jennifer aniston, or anyone you hold in high style regard). Now picture them on the red carpet, in the hottest Chanel gown.
Doesn't the idea of fake nails ruin the picture? That's because they never consider taking anything away from their beauty and style by adding 1/2 inch thick acrylics to the mix.
Nails should only accent your individual style, not take away from it. Unless you're going for a super unusual, quirky look (like Gwen stefani, or Fergi of BEP) natural and squared off nails always work.

I think they look fake no matter what.
But I've also had them done several times because I feel it's just another way to play around with my appearance. I highlight my hair in it's natural natural colors, but I've also tried some off the wall shades. I try to keep my makeup natural, but I've got some darker and more bold shades for every once in awhile use.
It's all about how you feel. There isn't really a way to make fake look natural, but it can look good.
If you are uncomfortable with the idea, maybe try wraps before you try the artificial. They still apply the acrylic powder or gel over your nails for strength, but they don't put on the tips. So you could have longer stronger nails without adding the fake nails.

No there is nothing wrong with wearing tips.. especially if they are nice classic french ones... I wear those all the time! But its important that you give your nails a break from all that nail glue and adhesive chemicals.. I'd reccomend wearing tips for about 2-3 weeks then have your nails natural or just polish for a few weeks and then you can go back to tips if you desire = )

I went years having my nails always done. I thought they made my hands look so much nicer. A few years ago I had them taken off because they started to get really expensive. Since then, I've found that I like the more natural, manicured look instead (and is more in). I also come to find out, that guys prefer the more natural look, too... : )

I am wearing really nice fake nails right now, they are a short french manicure style, they last for weeks.and look completely real! I've had people ask where I got my manicure done. It's not bad if they're realistic and not tacky, like mine. But if they have weird decals and are lime green, then they are hideous.

I think they look nice if done right and only if you need to use them, Like if your a nail biter. Mine are natural and thats a more healthy way to keep your nails. Be careful with fake ones they may make your natural nails peel and crack. The chemicals can dry your nails and it is embarressing to say the least when one pops off! and they will even if put on by the best nail artist! Grow your own its better! In a nut shell they are more bother then they are worth....Grow your own!

No its just a style I mean alot of people are wearing them its just the way that you wear them. I mean you can go to the salon and they'll let you choose cool styles. I wear ghetto nails and their not super long but their long and trust me people liked them.

as long as they are done in nice pattern with a not too long length, they can really enhance a female's appearace. The trouble begins when they are too long and the patterns painted on the are too wild. Short, French tips are always a safe bet.

the only ones i like are the french manicure ones. but it looks even better on natural nails. i don't like the ones that go wayyyy overboard, like you mentioned. that's just plain tasteless.
