I'm a truck driver and almost got hit again , every morning on the L.A. freeways and city streets I witness you ladies causing accidents and near accidents because you are being distracted while driving your cars, I catch you at least a hundred times more often than us men that are being being distracted, most of you ladies I have seen have a cell phone in one hand pushed against your ear yackking away with your girlfriends and at the same time in the other hand eating a quadriple egg Mc muffin while sterring your car with your knee, I have seen you putting on makeup and even blow drying your hair in the rear view mirror while driving the freeway at 85 miles an hour, I have seen you dressing and even changing your bras while weaving all over the road, ladies stop it...your "driving" up all our insurance rates with your reckless behavior, what can be done about this problem it "drives" me crazy! Am I the only one that notices this problem?

I am a woman and I am not a perfect driver, but I agree with you. There are things that you don behind the wheel, like pay attention to the road and the cars around you, be aware of traffic signals and signs and there are things that you don't- put on make up, change clothes, eat, talk on the cell phone. It is my experience that women are more likely to multi task than men when driving and it is dangerous.
I have been witness to way too many tragic accident scenes and I have gained enough respect for the road that I don't even like my kids talking to me when I am driving. You don't have to be that extreme, but please, ladies, get up a few minutes earlier in the morning, train your older children to help out so you are not having to hound them down to get ready in the mornings, get out of the house completey ready to go and drive when you are in the car- primp in your bathroom at home!!

mere : trucks are big- they take up more space on the road and require a lot more room to maneuver than little cars- it is because of these trucks that you are able to have most of the stuff you eat and wear. It takes a lot more concentration and alertness to drive a truck safely- when you can get behing the wheel of an 18 wheeler rig and drive it as smoothly as a BMW- then you may criticize truck drivers. I don't envy them- they get a lot of lfack from people who haven't got a clue what their job is like- not to say theere are not some irresponsible truck drivers out there, but for the most part they have to drive a lot more defensively than they should have to because everyone in their little beamers and corvettes act like they own the road and they just have to endure these subservient truck drivers keeping them from their important lives.
Have some respect and courtesy!

Not only the "ladies" are at fault. Men are often checking their hair or talking on a cell phone or eying a pretty girl walking down the sidewalk.

As to your personal encounters, I'm sorry to hear that you keep having to watch your side of the road and theirs, especially in such heavily trafficked routes.

I've always been a major b**** about having make up done before I leave the house to go to work; any calls that need to be made are done before I get in the car or once I have gotten out. Cell phones in the car are for emergencies only! Not for chatting up an old friend. Because of this, I have some very angry female friends, since I refuse to let them drive if they insist of touching up their makeup, etc., behind the wheel.

I've never been in an accident nor have I ever caused one. I intend to keep it that way. And, as you have stated, the insurance skyrockets when these idiots get behind the wheel (of either gender) and insist on tending to their toiletries in their cars.

Screw you. Men have more accidents then women and its a proven fact. How do you drive perfect if you are paying so close attention to what the "female" drivers are doing? Ive never had a car accident but I did have a male driver reverse his truck into my brand new car 3 days after I got it and completely f*d up the front of my car....whos not paying attention now. I think you need to stop sterio-typing the drivers and notice that the male drivers on the road arnt great either.

I agree with you,but not all women are the same while driving. When i drive I don't eat,I don't put make up on,I don't dress and I don't talk on my cell. IBut let me tell you something, men do the same,I saw men eat, talk over the cell phones while driving and there are a lots of men who drive like crap, maybe worse than a woman.Maybe you just noticed women, but look better and I am sure you will see some men as well do the same things.
Two days ago there was a truck driver who was "swinging" with his trailer and you know why? because he was eating his breakfast with one hand and talk over the cell phone in the other hand.

people who're careless could be extra careful whilst driving or shouldn't force. the countless undesirable driving conduct are no longer well-known in any demographic team and not limited to any demographic team, so we've not any desire of recuperating driving protection that way. As you assert, you have seen "some" females driving autos devoid of expertise. There are sturdy drivers and undesirable drivers. undesirable drivers should not be on the line. all something is our concept of communities that have some undesirable drivers... and all the communities do. I belong to 2 communities that are hammered on for protection: adult men and previous drivers. For all that I easily have extra beneficial than a million miles on the line in extra beneficial than 40 years and have in elementary terms been at fault in one twist of destiny in 1972.

Yeah, because ALL woman do this....You want to know how many times I've nearly been run off the road by men talking on the phone and one who was actually reading the paper....while driving????? WTF. How about the guy how hit my car while it was parked because he was busy looking for his cigarettes? Huh? How 'bout that? I don't do any of those things you say ALL women do as I'm sure most don't. There are bad apples in every bunch there yoohoo. Oh and BTW.....how hard is it for you to pull over when you get tired? I was nearly killed by a truck driver who ran my car off the road and nearly over a bridge because he fell asleep. If I hadn't been paying attention I probably would have been killed.

I used to get indignant when the ol' saying of "Women drivers..!" was thrown around, but now, after years of driving I have to agree darnit! Saw a gal trying to drive, eat her hamburger and talk on her cell phone the other day. Wise up, ladies, you're giving us all a bad name!

I can't stand truck drivers - not the job just the people behind the wheel. You guys think that just because you're driving that truck we should move just for you. Too bad! Quit trying to hog the damn road
