I know, right?

I used to play with metal jack-in-the-boxes with metal springs and those deadly clackers when I was a kid!!!

I also had this cool toy that was like a hot-plate and I could melt plastic dinosaurs and re-shape them!

kids these days could never play with anything like that now.

The first thing we were taught as kids were to never talk or leave with strangers which is kinda ironic today since kids today are all over the internet talking with all sorts of strangers. I don't think our parents would had let us do that back then since computers weren't really a big thing back then. Kids went outside more back then but one thing that has not changed are the high percentages of child abductions unfortunately. The safety belt rule was not enforced, nor was children required to wear helmets on their bikes, skates or skooters. It makes me wonder how we all made it here in one piece.

Socket plugs, special caps on medicine, bumper guards you place on sharp corners of furniture, CAR SEATS and SEAT BELTS!! We used to ride in the back of a woody station wagon!! Anti-bacterial everything; I'm certain I played in sandboxes where the cats had gone the night before, and ate fruit and berries fresh off the vine or tree and didn't wash them first. And, back in the day, Mom would deposit us in the toy section of whatever store we were in so that she could shop. We were'nt going anywhere, the only thing she had to worry about was whether she had money left over to buy us a small trinket for behaving.

Besides for Car seats and bicycle helmets I'd have to say safety caps on medications both prescription and non; those warnings that state that plastic wrappers are not "toys"; as well as cabinet drawer, stairway and crib locks.

a helmet, for everything... I never wore a helmet to ride a bike, roller skate, etc... only kids who "rode the small bus" wore a helmet. Now i guess it's considered bad parenting if your kids don't .....
