Sometimes after I have started my car, and left it idling, it will shut off, and then it won't start back up right away. I sometimes have to wait about 30 minutes. The battery is new (June 2006).

Under idle is the time the car uses the least fuel. If you have a fuel restriction or a clogged fuel filter it will lack power under load or when at cruising speed. Could be an electrical problem, check for fault codes set in your computer. If a soft fault it may not illuminate the "check engine" light. But at any rate you need more information to isolate the problem

Sounds like you have a problem with the warm up controls on your car, and the thing floods itself while idling and then is difficult to start until the extra fuel has a chance to evaporate. In the old days, this was all controlled by the position of the butterfly on the carburetor, but is part of the fuel management on injected cars. You'll probably need to take it to a mechanic and hope he can replicate the problem to fix it.

Sounds like vapor lock to me. That's when the fuel line gets hot and the gas forms bubbles in the line clogging it up. The car won't run until it cools. Still it would help if we knew what kind of car it was.

How old is the car? Do you have fuel injection? If you do, have you had the fuel injectors cleaned recently? You should do that once every two years. If that doesn't correct the problem, you can also have the fule filter changed. But if you do all that and its still cutting out, its problably a bad fuel pump.
