I have a Chinchilla who is about 10 months old. She is very sweet and gentle if you handle her nicely. She loves to be pet and loves to jump up on my lap or sit on my shoulder. She was very nice with our cats and they all got along beautifully. But we got a puppy and the puppy freaks her out. Where can I advertise to find a new home (without dogs) for my sweet little chin? I don't want to sell her, just give her and her cage and toys to someone who will care for her and provide a dog-free environment.

I found on yahoo here a site for people with exotic pets in my area and a lot of the time there are people looking for new homes for their pets. The best thing about this is that most of these people are associated with animal groups which insures that your chin is getting a good home and the person is aware of the chins needs not just that it is a cute animal. You can also look for a local rescue in your area that takes in exotics. In my opinion they are better compared to humane society because they meet future owners and chose the right owner with the best of their judgement. Chins are expensive animals to care for and need certain care to meet their needs you want to avoid advertising in the paper for free. Alot of people will be more than willing to take the animal and not care for it. It happens alot when it comes to animals like these just like hamsters and such, they get forgotten in some corner. Good luck, I hope this helps.

You can surrender her to your local Humane Society. They also find homes for "exotic" pets like Rabbits, Iguanas and Chincillas. And if you state on your surrender papers that the animal is NOT allowed into a home with dogs or puppies, they will take that very seriously.

You can also place an ad in your local paper, or their online version. Be prepared in advance with an APPLICATION form for any interested party to fill out. This way to can know more about the potential owner and scrutinize if this truly would be a good home. I did this for a dog I had who got aggressive with other dogs - and after turning down several people who swore they HAD to have her (but they had other dogs or BABIES, I wouldn't take the risk) I finally found her a home with an acre yard, and no other pets or kids... It takes time, though, to weed through all the interested parties to find the right one and the one who takes your cautions seriously.

in case you have an previous (yet sparkling) animal provider, it would probable be the main suitable option to maintain the chinchilla interior that. in case you do not have an older animal provider, I quite propose which you get one. If the motor vehicle holiday grow to be below 20 minutes i might propose in simple terms protecting it in a great field, yet an animal provider will supply you the insurance that your chinchilla won't get unfastened on your motor vehicle and wreak havoc or threat its well being. additionally, in case you have any previous pattern tiles from construction or designing your place or something like that, you could place those on the floor of the provider so the stones can cool their warmer physique temperature in a time of rigidity. There fairly isn't any thank you to transport chinchillas in a rigidity-loose way. save the air con on, and make advantageous the provider is strapped down so as that it wont tumble while you're making any turns. stable luck alongside with your new chin!

Have you tried a local chinchilla rescue? Sometimes a pet store like pet co or pet smart has those adoption every month, you could try there. List you specifics of getting a home for your chinchilla. You could also put up a ad in some local veterarians offices; stores; neighborhoods; also try some of your family or friends or friends of distant relations of family.......
