Not telling friends and family the sex of your baby is the best way to get all the stuff that you REALLY REALLY need!

Get a few gender-neutral basics, like white/green/purple onesies and jammies and such for when you first bring the baby home, but then just sit back and watch the clothes roll in from all your friends and family. Ha, especially if it's a girl. Grandmas and aunts and such LOVE buying little girl clothes.

Seriously, though, I had bags and bags and bags of clothes (new and used) months before my baby was even born. But I had precious few diapers and other necessities once he had arrived, because those types of things just aren't as fun for your friends to buy.

Good luck!

PS: Clothes really are the least of your worry at first. My baby lived in onesies for months, even in winter. Of course, now that I think about it, if you're concerned about bedding and paint and that sort of thing, THAT you might have to be patient and wait or else get neutral colors/designs...

I didn't know my whole pregnancy, and didn't get to buy boy or girl outfits till after he was born. So, I bought lots of sleepers that were yellow, green, white..etc. I also stocked up on little white socks, onsies, bibs, newborn diapers, recieving blankets, and all the stuff that was in nuetral colors. Then I waited till after he was born to have a baby shower, so everyone knew just what sex to buy for.
There are lots of things you can start buying without knowing the sex. Like a crib, carseat, bassinet, highchair, stroller.. etc. You could still go shopping for stuff! Just don't buy any outfits yet!

I felt the same way. I am 40 weeks pregnant now and I wanted to know the sex of my baby badly. Honestly you have no choice, but to wait it out. I waitied and had a wonderful baby shower. I started nesting when I was 7 1/2 months pregnant and did the entire nursery. I'm glad that I waited a while. Now I'm more then ready... Good luck!

Buy everything but clothes. There are SO many things you are going to want or need. Collect everything but the clothes until you find out! I feel the same way I was 18 weeks and want to know sooo bad!

Well, that is bad that they don't have a neutral color for babies where you live. Just wait till they can tell you. But imagine this my grandauther was to be boy, the doctor said look there is his little wee wee, so we did everything blue. but she was a girl.

How far along are u? In our culture it is taboo to buy anything for the baby till u r about 5 months. maybe you should put off buying anything till then

neutral colors and designs. example-plain white, onesies, as they are called, which will be the most basis clothing item a newborn will wear. green and yellow are also "neutral colors" that could pass for a boy or a girl. designs that reflect "baby" -something with bottles, suns, teddy bears are other "neutral" items.
