If only there WERE five good centers in the NBA....that would be nice. Unfortunately, there aren't... especially if Ilgauskas is considered a top five

Do you mean all time or now......
Now-
(1) Shaq
(2) Ben Wallace
(3) Andrew Bogot
(4) Dwight Howard
(5) Brad Miller
I know i may be causing controvery with the numbers 3 to 5.
I don't put Yao there because with his size, he is still a terrible shot blocker and hasn't dominated a game in the rebounding area.
All-Time centers:
(1) Akeem Olejewon
(2) Kareem Abdul Jabbar
(3) Wilt Chamberland
(4) Shaq
(5) Robert Parrish

there's not really anymore TRUE CENTERS, the league is overfilled with Power forwards playing the Center Position. With that said here's my top 5:
1. Ben Wallace
2. Shaq
3. Yao Ming
4. Alonzo Mourning
5. Marcus Camby

1. Shaqille O'neal (MIA) - scoring dominance is waning, but his presence and passing keep him at the top
2. Jermaine O'neal (IND) - slotted to start at center this season while Harrington and Granger play the forwards. He was already one of the best PFs on offense and defense. A position change alone shoots him up the list.
3. Boris Diaw (PHO) - with the return of Stoudemire, he likely won't see much time at center this season, but the job he did after Kurt Thomas was injured can't go unnoticed. His all-around offensive game and his ability to defend bigger players made him more than effective at center. He was effin good at it.
4. Brad Miller (SAC) - has the range to open up the lane, is a gritty defender, a decent rebounder, and a great passer
5. Yao Ming (HOU) - I think he made a huge step in offensive presence, rebounding, and defense before he broke his foot, but I have to see him do it for an entire season before I move him up my list

1. Shaq
2. Wallace
3. Yao
4. Amare
5. Z
Bosh isn't a true center. he's more of a PF, and he'll be playin more of it now that Villanueva is gone and Nesterovic is there. BORIS DIAW! wtf? he's as much as a center as Mugsy Bouges. Yes, I know he has played it, but he isn't BY FAR a center and in the top 5 too???? Alonzo is a great center, but as a back-up to Shaq, I think he feels overshadowed. He'd be better suited as a starter with another team. Tim Duncan also isn't a center. He will play it occasionally, that really isn't his element. Eric Dampier. WOW. There's really nothing I can say to that.

jeez you hit the nail, nice job dude
if you had two runners up, I'd go with
Diaw, the rising star of the league
and Dampier, who did a nice job in the Finals and showed he can play D
