I know that a lot of people can remember exactly what they were doing the moment they heard the first plane hit the tower. I remember I was managing at a hotel at the time, and flights were cancelled or diverted, and we had a lot of airline crew and distressed passangers staying at our hotel.
And the only thing they kept saying was how mad they were that the flight was cancelled. Some of them were laughing (not about the accident), but it was really crass of them to be so cold-hearted.
But what were you doing that day, or how did you react when you saw it?

It just gave me a sick feeling in my stomach, not only was this horrific, but it could be the start or worse things to come.
My boyfriend at the time worked with me, and he had a panic attack. I just felt like the world changed.......and this was the start of something. Safety of human life would be compromised.

I was at work. Suddenly, we could hear a commotion in the hall outside our offices. We stepped out to see what was going on - people were all running into another office where someone had a TV on. I saw the whole thing on TV and was shocked out of my mind and found myself praying for those poor people .. and their families. I will never forget, and I don't think the shock will ever go away.

I live in Canada and that is a day I will never forget either. I had a brand new baby at home with me and he woke up for his feeding and I turned on what should have been Maury but there was nothing on the screen. So, I started flipping through channels and saw the first of the towers and thought it was a movie, so I continued changing and every channel was the same. I sat and held my son and cried. I remember the feeling of "Oh my God, what is happening". I must have cried for about two hours and I didn't want to be alone, my mom called because she knows that I cry at dog food commercials and this was as bad as anything can get. I made her come and sit with me. I still get shivers when I think back on the videos of the people just jumping out of windows and all the loved ones lost for nothing.

I was at work and we had the radio on as usual when all of a sudden they interrupted the show with the news that the WTC had been hit. My boyfriend called and told us what they were showing on TV and everyone was in shock. Some guys that were working on the school across the street from my house came over and watched it on the TV. After the second tower was hit they let us go home from work and we kept it on the TV the rest of the day. I don't think anyone will forget where they were that day.

I'd just gotten out of the shower and was getting ready for work when I heard a newscaster (not sure who) talking in a really frantic way. I stopped what I was doing and just stood in front of the bedroom tv watching in horror. When I went to work, I kept the tv in my classroom on all day because I knew that that day would be as historical as the JFK assassination or any other hugely tragic event.
It was hard trying to explain it to my then-10-yr-old daughter. I didn't know anybody who died, but a neighbor of mine had a friend who lost her twin sister on one of the planes ( I think she was a flight attendant). And one flight attendant graduated from the same high school I did (but a number of years after I did).

It was on a Tuesday and I was at the laundromat and I was watching television and at first I thought that it was just a commerical and when the second bldg. was attacked and I heard the announcer on TV say that the incident was for real I got scared. I start thinking about my family and if I had to pick up my grandson from school and my husband works in the downtown area and I was worry that something was going to happen here. My thoughts were basically on my family and if there lives were in danger. We never say I love you to our loved one daily so now I make it a practice to say it everyday because tomorrow isn't promise.

I had spent the night before up late with my best friend at her house. She was leaving for the milatiry soon and we were trying to spend as much time together as possible. We were woken up by her ex boyfriend calling saying that we were at war. Sleepy and a bit confused my best friend staggers out to the living room where I was sleeping and woke me telling me that we needed to turn on the TV. The TV did not want to work at 1st so we turned on the radio to hear what was going on. Hearing after a few minutes was not good enough and so we went out to get an antana to use on the TV. We turned it on and just sat there in silence as we watched what had happened. We both started to cry and worried what was going to happen next.

I was working as a housekeeper. When I came in to work, there was a tv on in the room where we got ready to go out and clean houses. I stopped in front of the tv on my way to sit down at one of the tables, and saw a building explode on the tv. I felt a sinking shock and then said, 'well all civilizations fall eventually', and had faith that I was a good person trying to live a perfect life and that if I died I would be ok

I was at work that day. I work at a school. It was picture day and
I was in line waiting my turn to have my picture taken when the
Assistant Principal quietly informed me. I couldn't believe it.
I was stunned to say the least. When she came back and told
me about the Twin Towers I had to force a smile. I was struggling
to keep the tears from streaming down my face. When I was through I rushed back to my classroom to try and find CNN on
the computer. My co-workers and I stayed glued to the news
for the rest of the day. I even called my husband and woke him
up to tell him.

I was getting ready to leave for work...I turned on the T.V. to catch the traffic report to see which route to take to work...I watched in horror as they replayed the crash over and over...I remember watching the second plane flying into the Towers. I thought at first, that the second plane was like a media plane or something that "accidentally" crashed from all the smoke and debris.. I worked in a Pharmacy near Downtown Detroit, and the Pharmacist I worked with was from Iraq. When I got to work and told him what happened he said I was lying...We then went and got a t.v. off the shelf and watched the coverage all day. He was frantic trying to reach relatives...My brother in law is a pilot and I called my sister at work. (she's a teacher) to tell her. She didn't know anything about it. She was pregnant with their first child, and the AA plane was in my brother inlaws flight path...So we thought maybe he was on the plane...We couldn't reach him for 2 days so it was hectic...But fortunatly no one I KNEW PERSONALLY WAS HURT BUT THE WHOLE THING WAS HORRIBLE!

It' s strange. I remember very vividly how that a.m. felt awkward, I cannot explain the feeling. I got into my car and heard it in the radio. The feeling was so surreal! I felt like it was a bad dream and I would snap out of it. I know there are plenty of Bush Bashers around, but he fiercly protects the country and will continue as long as he is president. God Bless America !!
