Well im 15 and i have dealt with this alot, the best thing to do is to tell him yourself, dont get your friend to, chances are your relationship will last alot longer, plus by the way your saying it it seems that your friend would have no reason to say no, you like him he likes you!!! GO FOR IT!!!

If you're looking to find an answer about this guy, all you want you're friend for is for the asking, just incase the answer is 'negative'....you can resolve things quicker if you're to the point with this person on your own.....although we all understand how you feel and we've all been there, so you have to make up your mind for yourself....I say ask him out for a soda....the rest will come if ment to be!
