You can definetly use XP Home Edition for home networking. Not a problem.

They are compatible- the only difference with XP Home Edition is that it won't automatically login & authenticate to a Windows domain server when it boots up- otherwise it's the same.

XP is compatible with every other network-enabled version of Windows. It's even compativble with Apples if you do it right.

only difference in xp home and pro edition is couple of features in pro like making all disks to dynamic and other some extra networking features only difference
