It's probably very painful, but no one has lived to tell the tale. The brain will live for a few minutes after severance from the body as the reserves of oxygen deplete. Chances are you would be aware of everything around you up until the time your brain dies of oxygen starvation... you would be able to see the face of your executioner but be unable to do anything about it!

It isn't anywhere near 10 seconds. It's more like a 10th of a second before the nerves in your brain are totally disconnected from your body. And no, it doesn't hurt, unless the guy screws up and doesn't actually decapitate you, then it's going to hurt like hell.

It has been demostrated that the head lives 7 seconds after decapitation.

When he bent down and picked up the head by its hair to display it to the crowd, Khalid spat right in his eye.

Well given that your spine is severed at the neck so that you wouldn't be able to feel anything below the cut you would not be able to feel a thing.
Your head might hurt for a bit, but the brain doesn't live too long without oxygen so you wouldn't know much about it. You'd live long enough to see your body nowhere near your head though.

Well, when I was decapitated, it only hurt for a little bit. My blood shot ten feet out of my head and I kind of twitched around for a little bit.
Seriously though, your eyes move around and your heart beats for a few seconds, then you just...stop. I read about this executioner in Algeria who told what it was like to cut someone's head off. Gross.

i saw on a documentary that a scientist did a experiment when thy decapitated his head he was going to blink his eyes he blinked13 time than stop, also a quine of England her face turn very red after head was chopped of and than slapped by the executioner to your question is it painful no,can you see and feel yes for 13 second also smell.

Having never been decapitated I wouldnt know... so what you need to do is get someone to decapitate you then fill in a questionaire... ;oP

YES, during the French revolution the executioner on the guillotine used to have conversations with the heads he had just chopped off, something along the lines of nothing personal, just doing my job, hope it didn`t hurt too much.
