I don't like Ibanez'es, but it is a matter of taste and musical style.

Jazz and Blues guitarists often go more for epiphones;

Rockers like Gibson and Fenders;

Folk Rockers and Alternative rockers like Rickenbachers

Ibanez is definitely one the Heavy Metal types like to use.

That and Jacksons.

It depends on what style of music you play. Ibanez is more of a rock guitar; for mid-priced guitars, I like Schecter better than Ibanez. If you're spending big bucks, check out Paul Reed Smith; the quality is hard to beat, but they're really expensive. Another brand you might want to investigate is Carvin. They're a factory-direct company, which means you can't buy them in stores. You can find them online at www.carvin.com. I've never actually played one, but I've heard the sound samples on their site, and they are beautiful guitars, both in sound and looks. As far as strings go, you can buy whatever strings you want to put on your guitar. I prefer Elixir strings; they have a coating that helps them last longer and also cuts down on fretting noise.

Ibanez is a great brand of guitars, but with any guitar have the store set and adjust it properly.Guitars components are affected during shipping. as they come from Japan.Play several models to see witch one you like best.Also may I suggest checking in to a brand called Cort.
